After the fight for Defender's Heart, it would be nice if you didn't just shuck us straight pipe back in the inn. That way, don't have to run a character around to loot during combat, because all that loot disappears if you don't pick it up.

Actually It doesn't. See once you exit the inn after that fight, look around to the south and you will see a cart with dead bodies on it, there will be a hand symbol on it which represents that it can be used/looted. You will find what you were looking for there.

Isn't all the loot in the corpse cart outside when you leave "the next day"?

pretty sure all the loot is converted into gold in the cart after the battle.... tried it before long time ago... looted during battle and checked cart vs dont loot and check cart after battle.... more gold if you didnt loot...

Nope. Try it. Loot everything during the fight. The cart is still there, gives 1254 gold , and a few junk weapons (3 spears, 2 daggers) - the same thing as when you leave your loot. I tried both ways. I got about 1800 gold worth of stuff (not counting the 2H flail from Irabeth) from looting the bodies, PLUS the stuff in the cart.

dunno.... that experiment I mentioned I did was waaaay back like same year game released.... and I havent followed patch notes that closely to see if that part changed or not...

but yeah side note.... in end of prologue when you face Minagho for first time I do have my main run around and loot the bodies before she attacks my main and progresses story to tavern.... extra loot for extra early gold to get a better start in actual Act 1 part...
