Still have a 26GB Update Queued
I got lucky and didn't open WotR between the time that the spyware was installed and when it was removed. However, I looked at my Steam library and noticed that I still have a 26GB update queued. Even if the next update removes that, I don't want to download a useless 26GB update. Is there anyway to get rid of that update?

I went directly from 2.1.4w to 2.1.5n just through the normal update process. Version 2.1.5m was the one with AppsFlyer.

No, Steam forces you to always download every new update immediately. It has always been this way. If you don't like that then that's just too bad because Valve, being a monopoly, don't give a damn about your opinion.

No, there isn't. The 26GB is an Unity Engine update and not the Adtracker, and the adtracker was removed in the next update, not even 24 hours later, and all the things they removed will probably not be part of the Steam update anymore, as Steam doesn't patch "Batches" but individual files.

There are ways to prevent steam from updating games, you just have to set the game to only update when you open it, and drill down into program files to delete the update marker file and it's a big pain in the ass.

Had to do it halfway through my Kingmaker playthrough to keep mods working.

This guide is hosted on Steam so I assume Valve doesn't care.... ?

It's going to involve you going into your steam program folder and finding the appropriate appmanifest file for the game and then manually editing the state flags in the file in the proper way.

So obviously it should go without saying that you're going to want to be careful editing files, and you do so at your own risk.

And you have to do it every time if I remember right. I ended up just playing the game offline as well.

I'll never update.

I've been able to revert the patch with depot downloader but I can't get the DLCs to cooperate using the same method. I tried asking reddit and was pretty much told to just embrace the patch which wasn't the question I asked at all. Subscribing to this to see if anyone has had success reverting the patches on the dlcs.

The DLC requires the new patch and there's no real way around that unless you just never downloaded the new version.

I didn't download 2.1.5n,, so I was able to keep playing offline with the DLC working, but once Owlcat removed AppFlyer in 2.1.5m I downloaded the patch.

I figured out the issue I had just picked the wrong manifest when I used depot downloader so you can indeed revert the patch on the Midnight Isles at least.

As far as I know you can play old versions with all the first 3 dlc but you can only play with Last Sarkorians on versions like 2.1.4 but the Steam versions is older than that.

Imagine 26Gb update which literally changes nothing. WTF?

It's a unity engine upgrade to a new version which added some behind-the-scenes optimization and fixed a few annoying memory leaks that caused increasing lag as the game remained running.

Between the older version going out of support and them introducing a handful of new useful tools for development in the new one, it wasn't much of a choice, really. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It's worth mentioning that the update brought some bugfixes and a romance fix, too.

Correct. It's impossible to get the file with the data collecting code or the modified EULA on Steam anymore, they are no longer present in the build. The game goes directly to the latest version.
