The first sentence is fluff - it means nothing at all. The second sentence tells you all the spell does - a bonus on Stealth checks, and concealment from creatures more than 5 feet away. The greater version of the spell has the same exact effects, except it applies to all allies within 10 feet of you instead of just you.
