Need Shifter advice
Can shifters cast spells? Also what mythic path do yall think would best go with a shifter? I haven't started the game since buying the dlc but at a glance I'm leaning toward child of the manticore.
Input/advice is appreciated.

They can cast spells in animal form if you give them the Natural Spell feat. Just like Druids. Feyform Shifter can also cast spells in their feyform without Natural Spell.

Best would probably be a tie between Demon, Trickster and Lich. Though Shifter in spider form is incredibly fun as a Swarm I feel.

Shifter actually can't cast spell, they are a full martial class, that get bonus with their chosen form and with aspects. For the companion class, the aspect work kinda like a rage you activate it for x tick per day and it stay on for 1 minute and give you various bonus (bonus against fear and inherent str bonus).

Didn't try the other variant of the class.
As for mythic path i don't know anything that benefit martial.

Feyform when i used it before getting natural spell didnt allow for casting, unless it changed in some new patch you need natural spell.

ive only experimented with Child of the manticore, so i dont know how it works at higher level but shifter in general seems very strong, its like monk in some ways but better. You get a boat of attacks with increased damage, and depending on your build your AC is pretty high even without magic buffing. Its a really good fit for the mythic abilities nullify magic and master shapeshifter, the former doesn't negate 100 of your classs abilities, and the later makes most of your forms 24 7/

Shifter itself isn't a caster, yes. Though as already mentioned they are able to take Natural Spell to make them cast spells from theor mythic paths.
