A question about mounted combat
When charging mounted do both an animal and a rider attack?

No, I mean does a rider also charge? Mechanically speaking. For example, would Boots of Stampede work with a mounted charge?
It should work. I was using Living Ram on my Gendarme and the mount charging triggers the armors Blunt damage on Charge as if he was doing it.

Yes. Charge is a move action for the mount and they still have a standard action, 1 attack, left after. The rider doesn't actually charge so they get a Full Action which means however many melee attacks they can make in a round. They still get all the benefits of a charge which is paricularly good for Cavaliers but others too.

Just imagine a high str, high int character. Magus arcane accuracy + two-handed fighter overhand chop + boots of stampede + fable hero's lance. And there're several items in the game that give 10+ bonuses to athletics... Imagine the damage guys. Over a thousand on crit? Maybe more?

Boots of Stampede only looks at your Athletics rank, not the bonuses, so it only adds your base Athletics to the damage. Which is +20 at the most. So if you haven't put a single point into Athletics, the boots do absolutely nothing.

A Cavalier will do way more than those things with their capstone ability. But to get it, you can't dip into anything.
