Are all the romances so.......shallow?

I'm finding the few I have access to boring and make no scene.
I played female and dismissed the Spider lady so I only had Daeran, Lann and Aru.

I guess the Queen is also an option but that make ZERO scene. Did we have steamy nights together in the camp? Do we do more with the Queen in Act 5? That comment in Act 3 where one of the options was to ask if she's saying she loves me or something like that. How?


Lann I didn't even know I was romancing but damn he's a little whiny ♥♥♥♥♥. I said one nice thing to him and I'm his woman? How the ♥♥♥♥? He comes to try to spar with a Sorc that has like 6 Str like? What? That's a date or something?

Aru I did flirt with but that went right to relationship? How? I don't understand we flirt like once I try to be nice and then she loves me?

Daeran is the only one that's compelling he comes off as a rich ♥♥♥♥ boy that's never heard no. At the very least you have a number of actual interactions with him before he decides to attract your attention. It just seems on brand for him especially as it seems you need to at least work a bit to get his actual feelings involved. This is the only one that seems like any thought went into.

Are the Spider lady, Cam or Sosiel romances this shallow or are they more fleshed out? Are they even worth playing out?

Spider lady is the best romance in the game. Both writing wise, and gameplay wise. I've never romanced lann. I did romance dearen once, and funnily enough it got me killed.

Because it is a side quest.
The game is first and formost an rpg about saving morons mortals from demons.
You also have a few billion copy pasted fights and a lot of class and land to cover.
Romance in rpg's are an after though.
Just an other collectable to add to your growing list of achievements.

Now why the female romance options are worse then the male romance options i dont know.
As male i get to choice between:
Pshyco spider chick who would kill me if she would benifit from it.
A former demon who drains her victems to death via intercourse.
Queen that shoud have been dead for 50 years already.
Royal brat who just likes being mean to people.

Now i think about it.
Atleast woman get lann.
Sure he is boring but he is also the only romance option that is mental well adjusted and can be trusted to be loyal.
Granted kids are going to be an issu with the whole mongrol curse.
Dammit.

No wonder i never romance anyone.
All choices are bad.
Sure i slept with wendug but the game threated that as a romance instead of the one night stand or pleasure slave i intented.

So yeah.
Romance is bad because none of the romance options are mentaly stable enough for romance.
Those that are stable enough arent romancable.
I think sheela might make a good wife.
But she isnt romancable.
Or interesting beyond being the only sane party member.

Also you shouldn't worry about sleeping with a succubus. I slept with three of them at once, and had plenty of vitality left over.

Valid, I'm specifically doing it on my current playthrough because I've forgotten what it was before and seeing if maybe I missed something.

No such luck so far. But at least it's relatively wholesome?

Note that Sosiel isn't a romance option for a female character.

My female trickster ended up marrying Lann.

Wenduag true romance scenes are good.

Ulbrig will also be there for either gender. I just hope his will match the more mature portrait vibes. More old and wise in temperament than the other nigh hyperactive love interests.
