How many hours of content are talking about here?
Base game, SP1, SP2, Commanders Pack etc.

I've seen some players have hundreds of hours of game time but is that really all new content they are experiencing or just a testament to their enjoyment of the game and its replayability?

So far I've played the main campaign for 213.8 hours (haven't completed it yet) and I haven't started any of the DLC yet.

I'm guessing around the 600 - 700 hour mark for someone to complete everything (obviously depending on the individual results will vary wildly and I'm including my estimation of the unreleased DLC).

EDIT: I just remembered that I started the game and decided to restart. That definitely added 10s of hours onto my time.

It's shorter if you set it to easier modes, obviously. My first time through was about 3 and and a half days of content, DLC not included which added about 5 hours each. Which allows you to focus on the choices you make, which DO have consequences in this game.

If you're like me, you'll never get past act 2 because you're always rerolling. thousands of hours, my way.

It took me 200 odd h on core for the main game.
We are talking many, many, many hours for all the content. More than you'll probably be able to take honestly.

90 -120 for most people for first time. But can last longer.

Depends on how fast you play and absorb stuff.

I've pumped almost 980 hours into it and only completed 1 play through just now.

That said, I'd played up to about half way through first three acts on my first play-through but then decided to restart, so that's accounts for extra time with my second, completed play through.

I reckon I'd probably be around the 700 hour mark otherwise. Maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less.

I'm a slow player though and take my time. I played on core difficulty too.

I've yet to play 'Inevitable Excess' or 'Through the Ashes' DLC or the DLC coming out in March though, so they're next for me to enjoy.

Personally, I don't understand how you'd be able to fly through such a game like this multiple times so quickly - but this assumes you're being a completionist each time in terms of side-quests etc.

I loved this game but I won't be ready for a second play through any time soon - maybe in another year or two. It's a massive time-sink of a game assuming you read everything, absorb everything and complete 90-100% of everything.

Great game, but not without some problems - some bits are a slog fest, some bits (crusade battle mode) can be a bit tedious, but the main story and the mythic power options are fantastic and make it an excellent CRPG, not to mention all the options for character builds etc.

Most of the first two acts are sort of repetive if you play multiple playthroughs but once you reach mythic rank 3 there are quite some differences in the mythic paths to warrant multiple playthroughs (if you want to save time, make a save before picking your path and use the ingame respec feature to play through similar aligned mythic paths with a different class without having to repeat the early game)

I have 199 hours near the end of Act 5, played one and a half of the DLC, no rerolling. I'm a completionist and played the more difficult fights in turnbased.

Main game is 45 hours on core, if it took you 200 hours per play through your objective bad at the game as the average time to beat wotr on Google is 50 hours

The fastest time in the Last Azlanti competition Owlcat had, that included mostly streamers and youtubers, that had the game since beta, and it was on normal, was about 80h, or so.
So yea, you're full of doodoo my friend.
You might get 50h is you have a route planed out, and skip content to rush end game.

OP asked, how long the game is. Since that's totally subjective and depends on a lot of factors, several people gave examples of how long it CAN take.
Not everybody wants to speedrun.
"Google" - if by that you mean "How long to beat com" - says 218 on average for completionist. Nobody here said they needed that long for rushing through the main story.

I also noticed how you didn't tell us how long YOU took. You just quoted something that you found online. If the 45 hours you said the game "is", is your time, gz, you're a speedrunner who probably didn't read any of the story. Your loss.

I think a part of it is testament to the joy of the game. I'm at 700-800 or so, and while replaying to see the other Mythic paths is definitely a thing I can do the reality is that a repeat playthrough of those paths isn't an entirely new experience. Dialogue changes in some areas, some new quests pop up around the place, there are some gameplay changes, but the most dramatic differences only occur in the final hours of the game. Repeat playthroughs will be largely similar for the first 10-20 hours or so.

I think if you were to play the game twice, once on a difficulty that you are comfortable with and a second time on something a bit more challenging, you'd probably be looking at 100-150 hours of playtime. It's a difficult thing to estimate, since I definitely took a VERY long time to finish it. I love doing all the quests, and this was my first ever game in any sort of D20 system so I was very slow and had a LOT to learn. Your mileage could well vary.

I guess tl;dr "This game is absolutely huge and you can play it for hundreds of hours and still find new & interesting things to explore, both mechanically and narratively". Brevity has never been an issue for this game.
Immortal Reaver Jan 25, 2023 @ 4:05pm
I searched and on howlongtobeat.com is this

Main story only - 53 hours, (probably if done without managing crusade and just quickly skipping days to unlock).
130h for main story +side quests.
192h completeonist.
And somobody did a Any% speedrun for 2h 13m.
Slowest 641 hours.

I have 268 hours into the game and Ive played it through ONCE. I only have the inevitable excess DLC which Ive also played through once.

Worth nothing that the game has ton of combat which makes up most of the time.
