Wenduag and Lann
I know i can attack them but if i attack them at the first interaction, can I kill them and will that open a different path / different characters?

Lann is one of the best companions to have if you build him right.

Basically, it's a choice between a monk/physical focused archer, and a rogue/stealth archer. Both are good, though as Viper said, Lann ends up being better on a statistical level even if you leave them to auto-level.

That said, on a narrative level you're choosing between a guy who wants to do the right thing and is simply not confident in himself, and a woman who wants power and is willing to do anything to get it, even serving demons.
If you choose that option Seelah goes "Woah there buddy, let's not do anything too crazy huh?!" and that's the end of it. You are forced to take one of them for the Shield Maze, but at its conclusion there is a dialogue option to say "I'm not taking either of you with me". Lann will follow you up to Defender's Heart, but after that you're free to play without either.

This does not unlock any other characters or routes. The only consequence is a lack of Mongrel in your party.

Wow, that's really interesting to know. I thought you'd end up with one or the other regardless and assumed there is no way to get both, but not that there is a way to get neither.

I know a few spoilers about Wendaug, so i have a save left in the tavern where i start new runs from with Lann as the companion, since i don't care about Wendaug. But maybe one day, i'll deliberately take her just to go down the path where you do take her for her spoiler story.

He's also so pathetically lonely that he falls in love with you just by you being female and not being a total butthole to him.

Kinda surprised he doesn't just start humping your leg right in the middle of one of your council meetings.

Lann and wen are both boring characters, they both are copy-pasta of the i am a horny loner and i am a stab-you-in-the-back desperate traitor schemas. I would have chosen to have dislikable characters but make them unique. Eg:

1) A satyr that despised the lantern king from kingmaker, a wild hunt reject, who came from the 'baron' and has embraced Lamashtu. He comes with you after act 2 where they sabotaged x/y. You forced them to fight with you, and overtime they love you.

2) a vampire that is on the run from pharamasa, and comes to hide in Drezen, they pretend to be a cleric of Selune, but never goes outside during the day. Their story is about overcoming their vampirisms
