Loading new game taking 15+ mins
Ok... New computer. Windows 11... two SSDs... medium to high end everything.

Game worked just fine on my older low-end computer. Now I've been watching it VEEEEERRRRRYYYY slowly load up. 1% at a time. Roughly 2-3% per minute. This is my 2nd time attempting this. Writing this while currently at 28% loading.

First time took 23 minutes or so. Verified files which took 15 minutes. Deleted(as opposed to just uninstalling) the game. Re-installed the game(taking another 20 minutes).

Followed the pinned note "FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT START YOUR GAME" suggestions. Loading up went very fast. Character creation also went quickly. Now I'm sitting here typing this while I wait for the game to actually load up and play.

No mods. Vanilla version.

Soooo.... what the H-E-double hockey sticks is going on? Now at 38%, about 4 minutes after I started typing this.

*edit* Update.... 23 minutes to get to 100%... 6 minutes later, it's still sitting at 100%.

Shame. I was hoping to play.

I had a similar problem, and it turned out I had a mod I wasn't aware of. If you've ever installed mods that aren't activated via unity mod manager (and appear as folders in your LocalLow folder instead), then they linger between installations of the game. In my case I had a mod that was outdated and made the game load for about half an hour, never reaching 100% (until I terminated the process). I suggest you go over the folders in your persistent files and check if you don't have any unruly mods or something that doesn't belong there.

Never used a mod for Wrath, always played vanilla. Just for Kingdom.

On the old computer. On this new computer, I have the one mod for kingdom and nothing for Wrath. I installed Wrath a week or two ago with the idea of playing it. Tried yesterday and had these issues.

I suppose I could hard delete the kingdom game, and its mod. I'd rather not since I'm still playing it and there's no guarantee that would work.

Ugh... I really don't want to downgrade to Win 10... I actually prefer 11. It's the first time I've ever preferred one of their new OS.

There is no game worth the hassle of downgrading to Win 10... especially after paying for Win 11.

I got a similiar issue, but at 50+ hrs, in Bone Lodge map. When I try to get to the next story location (near two iron golems), loading is really slow (+1% at a time). And when loading get to 100%, nothing happens after that. Still looking for a solution.

Welcome to the club. In my case, I'm pretty sure it's Win 11... Of course, it could be something insanely stupidly simple, but I've done everything I'm supposed to.

What blew me away was how long it took to install compared to other games of similar size. I've got a very fast connection due to working from home and it took a long time. Other games of similar size downloaded and installed much faster.

Did you try to run it in win 10 compability mode. If you go to your steam folder for wotr and make a shortcut from the .exe file, you can right click on the shortcut and set it to win 10 or win 7 compability mode.

It might not help but it's wort trying.
