Feud of the Faithful - Hulrun vs Ramien
For the past week I've been playing Pathfinder: WOTR and ran across the subject quest. I'm doing a Good alignment run, so I was trying to save Ramien from Hulrun. Ramien told me that I could try to convince Hulrun not to kill him, but I could never find Hulrun in the Marketplace to initiate the conversation so I moved on. Demons attacked the Inn, we fought them off, and hours of play time later I went back to the Marketplace to try to find Hulrun again. But when I found him, he was about to off Ramien so I offed Hulrun instead. I was wondering why I never got the option to convince Hulrun not to kill Ramien, so I googled and apparently I had to do that before the Inn attack. I also read that killing Hulrun might ruin some other quests and a secret ending down the line.

I will probably have to load a prior save and lose appx 4 hours of play time. Does anyone know if this stupid quest so early in the game really messes up another important quest and a secret ending?

I was trying not to play with a guide on hand, but the Pathfinder games are really unforgiving with stuff like this :Lee:

if you want the secret ending, you really need a guide. So maybe not on the first playthrough? Just let things happen naturally? :)

Yeah, the "secret" ending is a long series of extremely convoluted conditions...don't even worry about it in a blind run.

As for the Hulrun vs Ramien quest...keep in mind, I'm erring on the side of no-spoilers...

The way you resolved it doesn't really "mess up another important quest".
It changes some things in the story, yes. It does lock you out of a specific branch, sure...but the same is true for many other decisions...this is one of the selling points of the game: many, many ways the story can go.

My suggestion...don't sweat it, and don't reload and re-do 4 hours of the game to change a decision that you thought made sense for the character you're playing.

If you are curious, you can always do a different character later.

I wouldn't say that the secret ending is too difficult to get. I decided to take a look at the guide towards the end of chapter 4 and realized that I had completed all the necessary steps. Well, I roleplayed haotic good and maybe it was one of the reasons... But in act 5, you surely will make a mistake without a guide.

It's not difficult, but it's very specific...especially at the end. You don't really have alternative ways to do it, and some decisions with no apparent connection are crucial. So you really need to know what you are doing.

I suppose up to chapter 4 you could reasonably do everything "correctly" by chance, especially if playing Chaotic. Chapter 5, I begin to doubt it...and then the timeframe, out of basically nowhere? Nah, you don't do this blind.

Thanks. I did go back to previous save and replayed this quest, keeping both alive for the moment and it didn't take too long since I knew what to do. I then cleared the Garrison, made my mythic choice, began day one at the war camp, and while I was reading about the Notes for the Storyteller quest in Fextralife, I noticed that I completely missed a broken gold buckle at the Marketplace that ends up turning into a great item. I have the 6 magic essences, but the storyteller won't give me the option to rebuild it. Great! :sadelf: Not going back this time though :steamhappy:
