Which portrait packs do you recommend?
I'm looking for something that would fit a human male Kineticist better than the official portraits. EDIT: Preferably someone who doesn't look like your stereotypical "tough guy" or "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥", if you know what I mean.

I'm using a portrait pack I got off of Nexus for Kingmaker.
In fact, I just copy n pasted that over to Wrath. Not sure how many portraits are in there, but it is A LOT.
So, go to Nexus and search for a portrait pack for Kingmaker.

https://www.notra.fr/portrait/pathfinder is nice tool to make portraits without having to rely just packs

The reason I'm asking is because there are a LOT of portrait packs. I saw one that looked promising, but not only were there only a handful of Kineticist portraits (out of almost 200 portraits), they were all for females, and only one was human (that I can recall). In fact, it feels like the majority of male portraits just feature generic muscular human males in generic armor wielding generic melee weapons in generic "action" or "tough guy" poses.

I'm not looking to turn images I already have into portraits. If I had such images, I would've edited them myself.

I have a couple. You can find "Garion's Portrait Pack - Pathfinder WotR" on the Nexus. If you really like Seelah but hate how she looks, I recommend "Improved Seelah Portrait" or (my preference) "Glam Seelah". With Visual Adjustments 2 you can change her doll to match her new sexy look. You can find VA2 on Github.

The images on that pack don't look promising. It's still just the same generic muscular men in armor for the most part.

And Seelah looks fine the way she is. "Glam Seelah" looks like a really bad edit.

I have no idea why you're going on about the 'tough guy', there are plenty of non-80's action hero type guys in those packs.
And I'm not sure what a 'Kineticist' specific portrait looks like, most of the art I saw kind of just looked like a mage. Even the official art (ok some looked like they're from Avatar the last air bender, but still...).
I think you're being maybe a tad to anal about this? Just a bit?

Because it's what I'm seeing and I don't like it. It's bland.

A Kineticist would be someone manipulating elements who isn't wielding any magic wand or scroll or book or anything like that. Ideally one portrait per element. And yes, they'd likely look like something out of ATLA.

Not at all. I just know what I like.

You know how to edit? How about this, then.

Start up the game, pick the custom portraits, and concentrate on making your actual character look how you want. The game will start out in a festival with good lighting so, once you get on your feet, use the photo mode feature. Hold down the middle moue button, zoom around to a good angle, and take some screenshots.

Now just crop/resize those images to the required sizes. Drop them into the custom portrait directory, restart the game, and off you go.

That's not a bad idea, but the character customization in the game leaves much to be desired. It makes sense, though, since you're always looking at everything from a fair distance away. Also, I'd probably need to do the same thing for the others, because the difference in art style would be jarring.

Well a kinetic companion in one of the official adventures is a kid with a teddy bear and a ..boomerang, so... yea.
But you do you.

I figured you were asking me what I was looking for. If you already knew what the official artwork is, then saying you don't know what a Kineticist-specific portrait is supposed to look like is odd, to put it mildly.

No, what I'm saying is that just because someone is a specific class doesn't mean they are not an individual. They can look like just about anyone.
It's like the old trope that ninjas where the guys in the black garbs and masks, while in reality ninjas were just dressed like a normal peasant.

Btw here's an idea: pick one mage portrait you like, and if they are holding a book or a staff, just edit them out. There you go, Kinetic.

Sure, but if I tell someone to picture a knight, for example, most of the time they're going to imagine a man wearing full-body armor with a sword and shield.

Also, portraits are race-specific. Even if you are technically correct that a Kineticist can look like anyone, a human can't look like an Oread, for example.

Yeah, I don't know how to edit pictures like that.
Schlumpsha Nov 3, 2022 @ 5:32pm
It's easier to take a look at deviantart, artstation or Pinterest and search for cultivator art. That's what the Kineticist is based on after all.
