Controller or keyboard?

I'm starting my first playthrough of this game and I'm wondering what the majority of players recommend using to play - controller or keyboard?

I'm flirting with both atm and cannot get a natural feel for either. Controller is easier to move the characters around, but keyboard makes it easier to access everything else.

Also as a further question, do you guys recommend playing turn based combat or live?

Keyboard and turn-based. Though the game was made with real-time with pause in mind, the original tabletop ruleset obviously wasn't.

With that said, turn-based can (and should) be used in specific fights, mainly the ones where there are a lot of cannon fodder enemies.

Keyboard and RtwP while on Desktop. And Controller UI with TB while on the Steam Deck due to the smaller screen size.

rtwp to start a fight, or on trash mobs. TB on tough fights, rtwp has a huge advantage in that you can get a charge off with everyone. From there they are kind of equal, rt being much faster. But on tough fights, esp with enemies that charge your backline TB can be huge (use the 5' move rule by right clicking) this way you can move your casters out of AoO range and attack.

I don't know how anyone can play a CRPG on a controller, PC all the way.
