most difficult fight in the game
I'm pretty curious what you think is the most difficult fight in the game associate with the difficulty you're playing at and the context.

From my limited experience it was by a very large margin the fight against the envoys of Pharasma in the lich zigurrat on core. The only fight I reallyu cheesed.... and still nearly loose after about 10 tries (10 tries cheesed with 7 or 8 stacks of domain of the hungry flesh one upon the other and all the control spells I had - all cast before the fight of course). I may have done it a bit early (before Iz, lvl 18 at the time if memory serve me right)

On trickster path against a certain sister of your patron. Until then on core was quite easy, even playful darkness was doable, but that "sister" stuns almost ur party (only Seelag had a high enough fort save to beat the save DC). After several tries i lower the difficulty level.
So far playing on core i am in act 3.
And the harest fight i had was the dragon.
Mostly because until i used protection from fire communional she one shot my entire party.

There are several fights like that in game.
Where i need to reload and swich my spell around to counter the enemy.

Right now i am running a:
My wizard debuff the enemy with reduce eyes of bodak and bestow curse.
Then when there low enough nenio will use phatasm killer to one shot them.

Works for most things.

Hossila in Lann's path. Beaten the game twice on Hard. Once as an Ascended Trickster (dirge bard) and once as an Azata-> Legend (sorcerer-magus). And Inevitable Excess DLC. Nothing can compare with Hossila.

1.Hossila (when picking Lann)
2. certain companion quest involving gargoyles
3. certain Azata quest in the Abyss.

Probably Noct in the demon path. Can one shot your party and I imagine on unfair youd be better off planning from the start around this fight getting the shake it off feat on everyone and having a paladin in your party.

Seen one guy on the tubes do it and if you fail the save its like 800+ damage.

The hardest fight is hands down Mephestophalies as Aeon. Unlike the azata version which is a lot easier, the aeon fight has higher AC /DC, he has infinite summons of hell guards / hounds which all can one shot you in an instant.

Mephalis is also immune to a lot more then deskari, hephza, echo, zach, baphomet and even nocticula with trickster. Combined with the fact that aeon in general is a terrible mythic path [basically a challenge run] because of terrible magic and terrible weapon damage.

I found Moondance Meadow to be the most difficult with 5 characters on Hard.

In DLC3 my 4th level party with no mythic ranks and 2 magic items between them hit an unavoidable encounter of a werewolf, two wolves, ten medium elementals and a 15 hit dice structure that made the elementals immune to their vulnerable element, made everything around it difficult terrain, damaged the party every turn, increased the elementals damage by a dice and respawned one of them every round if they'd been killed.

That was rough.

The Senescal of Cairn, Mefistofeles, is the most difficult figth in the game for estadistics, is a literal a Bonus Optional Boss who you only can defeat it in Leguend and Azata Mythic Path. Is a Literal God and the Encarnation of the Hell, Before Asmodeus win in that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ place. So, if you can kill Mefistofeles, you can kill anyone in the game.

I second this.

I happened to be Aeon on my first run on story mode and he rolled me hard. He didn't summon anything in my fights against him, he just perma stuns everyone in sirocco (freedom of movement doesn't help!) and hellfire rays them to death. You don't get to prebuff and he has very high initiative.

The hardest fight in the game imo is fighting the urge not to kill every character once they out live their essential-ness except for Ember which i keep for moral support and lann for his lawful neutral goodness. I really do dislike the characters in this game.

Laughing caves, lower floor. A very well-rounded assortment of mythic demons with stats inflated to be higher than anything in the game before Iz. For some reason, True-seeing didn't work to reveal the invisible ones, so about a round into the fight I would lose two members to 7+ sneak attacks every time. Typically Seelah with her 50+ AC and my Gold Dragon MC with ~500 HP.

Laughing Caves would be a candidate for me as well.

True Seeing only works against invisibility from Illusion magic such as Invisibility and Greater Invisibility; it does NOT work against normal Stealth. And since the Illusion spells Invisibility and Greater Invisibility function by giving a Stealth bonus, True Seeing does not work against Invisibility or Greater Invisibility, either.

there's a solid extent to which the difficulty defends on circumstances, the Chapter 3 dragon can just end your party in a single turn if it gets a really good initiative roll, (and your saves don't go well) but the fight isn't that hard otherwise, especially if you don't do the fight as one of the first things you do in Chapter 3. I'd say that the Ashberry Hamlet fight is probably one of if not the hardest fight in the game if you attempt it in act 2 since you're basically inevitable going to get Save-or-sucked by the Old Sarkorian Ghost casting Rift of Ruin, and the characters who survive that are likely to get level-drained to death by the specters backing him up.

Theres only one fight I can think of that has humbled me. I went from laughing at the patheticness of the enemies, to spamming heal, to dying.

The secret Abode in act IV. If those dudes start throwing force potions, it becomes no laughing matter.
