sorcerer bloodline question
I read somewhere that certain bloodlines give +damage to elements like fire, but which ones are those? I couldn't tell just by reading the tooltips on the character creation, the bloodlines say what additional spells you get but I don't see specifically where it lists any passives to elemental damage. What did I miss on the tooltips?

Sounds like Oracle Mysteries rather than Sorcerer Bloodlines.

Flame Mystery provides Burning Magic, doing additional fire damage to all spells with the fire descriptor. Similarly with the Waves Mystery and its Freezing Spells, although with slowing enemies rather than providing more cold damage. Or the Wind Mystery with Vortex Spells, providing additional staggering.

Either that, or Draconic Bloodlines.

The draconic bloodlines give it for the appropriate type (black dragons = acid, red = fire, and so on). Its is their Bloodline Arcana thing.

It's for more than just the Dragon bloodlines, and the Dragon bloodline effects are actually some of the most minor ones among the bloodlines. Every Sorcerer bloodline gains a special Bloodline Arcana, which is detailed under the "Sorcerer Bloodline" ability on the character's ability tab, and so far as I've seen they're all implemented and accounted for. Some examples are Fey's +2 DC to Compulsion effects or Abyssal giving DR/Good to summoned creatures.

Haven't checked Elemental's yet, but it's suppose to let you shift the damage type of damaging spells to the bloodline's element. So a Snowball that does Electric or Fire damage instead of Cold, for example. Or the Undead bloodline's ability to use mind-affecting stuff on undead.

Yep - I'm doing the electric line and there's power to change other elements to electric.

P.S. Electric is tough to start out with. It turns out that nearly all demons are flat out immune to electric damage! You eventually get a mythical ability that can cancel that, but you've got nothing through Act 1.

Well let me try to be more detailed about my question:

- I go to create custom character
- I select sorcerer (basic one)
- I press "details" to bring up the class progression
- under "bloodline" I hover over the "SBS" icon and right click it to bring up available bloodlines
- under "possible selections" I hover over the various bloodlines
- for example, I hover "dragonic bloodline- red" and I read the tooltip

It says nothing about giving bonus damage to fire dice. What am I missing?

it might not say it in the character creation screen when you select it... but near end on the character sheet it will say it on the details list.... but yeah all bloodlines give something for the arcana.... dragons give a +1 to damage for their energy type... which you can tell by looking at the color of the bloodline icon.... red for fire, green for acid, blue for water, lightning like for lightning.... and elemental arcana gives you the ability to convert any spell to its damage type (an ability you can toggle.... so dont have to activate it constantly)....

as for the dragons.... there are a lot.... but there are 2 of each element available but with different alignment origin as the only difference only pretty much..... as in silver draconic bloodline and white dragonic bloodline are the exact same thing.... both provide a plus 1 bonus per die to cold spells.... only difference is a silver dragon is considered a "good" dragon... and white is considered an "evil" dragon.... no difference with storyline as far as I know which type you pick.... just flavor is all.... you can pick both and get it to stack to plus 2 per die rolled though... I dont like doing that though.... RP wise feels kinda out of place for me to do it...

but elemental and draconic bloodline is good synergy though.... say pick water elemental and silver dragon.... you can convert all spells to cold and get bonus damage to the spell cause its cold now..... so that means a 20d6 chain lightning..... if you did horribly poor and rolled all 1's... instead of doing 20 damage.... 40 is gonna be the minimum thanks to draconic bloodline....

Click any draconic bloodline and check the tooltip for the "draconic bloodline arcana - X color". That will tell you about the extra elemental damage per die.

Draconic Bloodlines give extra damage per die of that element, whereas Elemental Bloodlines can convert all your magic damage to that element.

when I hover over the available bloodlines from specifically the generic class description, like I said it mentions nothing about that. I think you are talking about when you actually go a few screens deeper and are asked to select a bloodline, but I'm talking about just from the general class info I don't see a way to have any idea about these arcana bloodline bonuses.

there actually is a mechanical difference, it's in the breath weapon. different colors of Dragon have different mechanics for their Breath Weapon ability, though I think most are either Cone or Line template~

Does the game actually state that elemental: Bloodline allows universal elemental damage conversion...? I'm looking at it now and I don't see where it actually states it. I keep reading about it on forums but never played with it (just yet perhaps).

I see things like Burning Hands(Electric) and Scorching Ray(Electric) but nothing that overtly states that there is universal elemental damage conversion like Elemental Specialist.

As with the OP I am specifically referring to the interface / tooltips. I'm not asking about whether it is actually possible or not. If there isn't a specific tooltip that states this in clear text that's - Pretty sloppy.

Addendum: In fact it seems that ONLY Elemental Bloodlines lack the tooltip for "________ Bloodline Arcana" ???

Is it just my game or is this just a huge interface oversight?

its been a while since I played but yeah.... I never saw the elemental bloodline ability you can toggle on the bloodline selection screen.... only on the more detailed part of the character sheet at end when it says you learned new abilities before finalizing...

Might be a bug then. I can't check in-game right now but that's where the explanation was supposed to be. It should read, according to the wiki: "All spells that deal energy damage that you cast will deal damage of a type matching your element instead. This also changes the spell's type to match the energy type of your element."
