WTF can you do against the Vrock Votary in Drezen!??
What kind of design is this? This thing just keeps spamming mass paralysis, mass blindness, and mass weaken, while repeatedly hitting my characters with Destruction on my main tank for 97 damage, with damage to party set to 0.7. Then repeatedly castign heals, and Hold Person. And if I do manage to get some damage to it, it keeps healing itself for 100HP per heal. Its lvl 14 against my lvl 8 party

Im already playing on a below normal difficulty, with DC, crits and damage turned down. Im not sure what more I can do against crap like this. Im clearly not a Pathfinder expert, which is why I play on low difficulty.. but this is not fun at all

I agree, Vrock Votary is overtuned as hell. He remains major threat even on levels 12-14, and in Drezen you fight two of them on level 8-9. Once I had to spend 10 minutes waiting for Mass Paralyzis to end because I had no way to remove it and you cannot rest in Drezen except for dedicated places.
The best way to defeat them is spamming disables and focusing your fire. Stinking Cloud before the fight might be usefil - demons are immune to it, but Votary is a cultist, not a demon, if I remember correctly. Any debuff targeting Fort save is nice too. Then you go in with Haste and murder that bastard.
P.S. I'm playing on Core, if it's important.

I played on Core, and honestly don't even remember them being there.
Play on Turn Based Mode if you have problems with enemies 'spamming' something. This isn't a FPS, enemies shouldn't spamm stuff.

I dont remember this dude, where do you face him?

If there is one thing Owlcat is known for, it's hyper stat bloat.
Ohhh I remember that guy. He's in the hallway in the back of the Temple, at the bottom of the stairs to the room you find the triceratops statue in right?

The guys in the room with a bloodrager or some other barbarian? The ones that cast phantasmal web and stuff?
I just greased them, and finished them off while they were down on their ass.
If those are not the ones, then.. whatever, still Grease mate. Best spell ever.

He's a caster that you meet in Drezen, and he casts level 9 spells. Nuff said.

Y'know that stuff with Mass Paralysis and Hold Person sound like they'd really be a pain, if you didn't have access to Freedom of Movement, the buff that's basically "Delay Poison" but for immobilising or paralysing effects: for the duration of the buff those effects do nothing. at least that's how it's described~
This spell enables you or a creature you touch to move and attack normally for the duration of the spell, even under the influence of magic that usually impedes movement, such as paralysis, Acid Fog, slow, and web. All combat maneuver checks made to grapple the target automatically fail.
and with caster level * 10 minute duration too~

Ahhh seems reasonable. Like our favorite ghost at the nearby hamlet!

*oh look, another easy ghost* ghost casts Rift of Ruin and kills half of team.

No, those are Shadow Demon Votary. The Vrock Votary have wings and a mace. They cast heal, blasphemy and destruction below Hard mode adds additional spells. It's an alpha strike fight. Their saves are garbage and their AC is low. But if they get a turn, there will be pain.

Open the fight with a disable, like grease yeah but in this case I think the wings may save him. If you don't know to do that though, you're going to take a few L's first.

Do you use buff mod? Just set the buffs properly and the game is too easy on core. I dont even cast offensive spells anymore in A3, just buff and watch the limbs flying around from crits.

I've done drezen on the last weekend for the 5th time. The Half-Orc Vrock Votary was one of the easier figths, at least in turn-based combat.

- AC is not really high.
- With level 8 your are still 6 to 1 (without animals). Regill sat on the triceratops and rushed him.
- Using death ward makes you immune ceratain spells.
He is also half blind so you can get near and shoot him first. In turnbased you have an entire turn where he cannot act.
- Disabling him is possible with a bit of luck due to high saving stats (triping, hold person, laughter etc.)

Your cleric at lvl 8 gets a Guarded Hearth ward. Which will make lots of these fights easier. Your paladin has mythic ability to buff saves for your team, archon aura helps too.

I got through lvl26 insect demon at WinterSun with lvl11 party (3rd quest location after Drezen).

Concentrated fire on the Votary + send the character with the highest Fortitude + freedom of movement on each party member and preferrably some kind of communal elemental protection (vs fire, cold and electiricity); not you can stack protection from energy with resist energy

P.S. Done it on hard twice with bard and a sorcerer main;

I cut through Drezen, including Minago and Staunton like it was absolute butter, playing on Core difficulty.

Only enemy that gave an issue was Staunton's brother because I let him mass cast protections and dispel magic failed, but my kineticist wiped him.

Are your characters built for the role they are filling?
Have you buffed your characters appropriately before fighting the battle?
What about armor spells like barkskin, mage armor, mirror image, and etc?

What is the highest AC your tank character has before spells/buffs? What about after?
How many melee characters do you have in your party?

BUBBLEBUFFS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!

You save maybe 5 - 10 game hours from not manually casting everything.
