Magus spellcombat not worth it?
I heard that the normal spellcombat uses of dishing out touch attacks on weapons is basically useless cause of SR in this game and that magus is just good for buffing himself with mirror images and arcane points, blah blah. Is that true? Cause frankly its kind of disappointing. Is there any way to make that viable?

Also, the -2 to attack from spellcombat, does that apply even when im not casting spells during a full action, or only if i'm doing a spell along with my attack?

Ive gone into detail on magus and spell combat before. Im really tired so Ill keep it real short for this one.

Spell combat gives you -2 attack bonus on all attacks
Spell strike, gives you -2 attack bonus on all attacks, and an extra attack.

Spell strike will work with the cantrip spell, touch of fatigue.

All of the spell strike bad comments are incorrect. You have an arcane pool and you WILL take arcane accuracy. hitting someone at 10th level, long before transformation, for weapon damage and 15d6 electrical is not a waste of time.
Electrical dmg is useless unless you spend a mythic level on penetration and another mythic on bloodline. Problemm is, if you waste your mythic on caster stuff your melee performance suck, but if you don`t waste your cast are useless. Considering the amount of martial dmg for a touch AB magus under transformation and sclad song all these childrish spells are not worth the effort.

Spell strike does not give a -2 to attack.

What? It needs one mythic feat. Do not over complicate this. What Skald song and what transformation are you talking about?

You'd need to make a specific build to allow spells to hit and make sure they can hurt especially with Electricity. It's not a build most go for, but it can definitely work. I would call that a spell slinger build though and you're not really building all the way for melee with that build. I'd opt to go with Azata with this one to take Zippy Magic and chain lightning. Works best with air elemental bloodline (another non melee styled choice) It's effective. I'm not sure if it evens out with just 2H melee damage though. I've not done the math. But it's viable so you can choose this for flavor.

Here's a build that utilizes it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLCqukV9hHk

Lightning is suboptimal , only +2 per dice instead of +3 for fire and no items to boost dmg, compared to fire. Also you can`t metamagic lvl 6 spells and Magus and can`t merge books. The build in video is a perfect example of ruined Eldrich scion that trade most of scion power for lackluster spellcasting , barely scorching Poor lvl 12 bodaks on lvl 12 area with a lvl 20 character. His AC is non existant, his AB is low, his dmg is abyssimaly low. 10 levels of eldrich knights that give him absolutely nothing, but completely ruine his arcane pool and progression.

Not saying there isn't better stuff out there, I'm saying it's viable. 99% of the choices you can make in builds is suboptimal, that doesn't mean you shouldn't play them. I agree on the EK class levels. I didn't really understand why you would choose that over ES levels.

I personally am more interested in a Fire build. Yes you can't metamagic level 6 spells. Can't you use the special Magus empower though? I thought you could. Of course limited to x time per day.

Half the enemies are immune to electricity and I refuse to take ascendant element on a magus. Everyone and their mother has high spell resistance, which is problematic. Won't take spell penetration either, but it's an option I guess. At least they learn Force Punch.

On a SS I'll use a 2 handed, so I can't use spell combat, but with an Eldritch Scion for example, especially during low level, I use spell combat to re-apply buffs which are running out without losing the Fighting Defensively and/or Combat Expertise AC bonus.

Yes it does.
That's Spell Combat. Spell Combat gives -2. Spell Strike does not.
Raikon 26 JUL 2022 a las 3:51 a. m.
What do you think happened in the above photos exactly. I casted touch of fatigue, and hit the enemy with my longsword. Touch of fatigue was channeled through the sword and hit the enemy. Attack 1 of 2.

Then I got my melee attack per spell combat, attack 2 of 2. Literally the photos are right there. Spell strike.
Raikon 26 JUL 2022 a las 4:02 a. m.
In a way you are right though, if I were to cast touch of fatigue and target seelah out of combat, then right before I hit seelah I walk away, my sword would keep the touch of fatigue stored in it. Until it finally hit something. Then touch of fatigue would be channeled, without the -2 penalty.

However, I speficially referenced an extra attack. You don't get an extra attack unless you utilized spell combat. Which is -2 for both attacks, spellstrike included.
lemurs2 26 JUL 2022 a las 6:04 a. m.
Your mistake is that you have spell combat active; if you click it once it will no longer be active and you will not receive the penalty,
The game does not care if you are using spell combat, it only cares that it is active.

Boy, supermunchkins like ptiro are going to cry tears of blood when Owlcat fixes Eldritch Scion; they are supposed to have bloodrager bloodlines not sorcerer bloodlines.
If you use TT tweaks and Codex you will get a far more accurate game at least until Owlcat patches things up.
ptirodaktill 26 JUL 2022 a las 6:48 a. m.
Bloodrager bloodlines would only make ES stronger, as you pick a bunch of gore attack on the way, giving them reach is a nice bonus.)
