Sosiel isn't good at melee combat as I thought.
Sosiel has poor skill on melee combat as a guy who is wearing plate armor and holding a big glaive in his portrait.
Is there a build to make him fit the portrait and the narrative?

Cleric 20. Get community, madness and strength domains as well as domain zealot. Deploy guarded hearth, self buff with vision of madness attack roll, divine power and transformation. Witness the clericzilla.

for attack, domain powers and cleric spells can cover that

for ac, getting animal domain and mounting it, is the best option without crippling his cleric abilities

for ac without mounted combat, that one can be difficult but tbf its difficult for anyone in heavy armor

His main task is to buff the party. get all the good impossible domains.

He is a buff bot. Being good in melee isn't really his strong point, even narrative wise, he doesn't really like to fight.

I like giving him two levels in Barbarian/Armored Hulk to help with his deplorable AC and Mythic Domain Zealot and Mythic Sorcerer Reflexes. The Reflexes lets you cast one of his accuracy buffs as a free action at the start of a fight, zealot does the same for his domain powers, and then charge in with rage active.

I have no idea why Owlcat gave him Medium Armor Focus, it's a horrible choice for a feat. Giving him Heavy Armor feat would have been flat out better.

Animal Domain --> Dog(Bully) combined with Boon Companion and Mythical Beast gives him a lot of combat usefulness via the pet. This still leaves him with more than enough mythic feats for Community Domain, Domain Zealot, and Enduring + Greater Enduring Spells (since mythic feat: extra mythic ability is a thing).

He has medium armor because of his background. Roleplay should be a factor when picking feats. Sosiel mightmight prefer medium armors over heavy, so gets the feat.

in the current beta they changed his medium armor focus to heavy armor profiency

The thing with Glaive is, is that you can hit enemies from behind your own characters so if you position him properly, he won't actually be in danger from melee at all. Alternatively, the way I easily made him able to hang is just... use a shield instead of the glaive.
So just rebuild him as a generic Cleric or pick a special subclass?

This isn't true. Sosiel (like most any Cleric) is great in melee IF you understand that they require more micro (e.g. buffing) than fighters. Divine Favor, Divine Fortune, Eaglesoul, Frightful Aspect, Divine Power, Archon's Aura, Destructive Smite, etc. make him a monster. With Loremaster spell secrets working, he can pick up Mirror Image, Transformation, etc., and with Animal Domain, he can ride a powerful pet.

Thankfully, they changed this to Heavy armor in the current beta, but why Armored Hulk over Instinctual Warrior (which gives him WIS to AC)?

Are you telling me, that with enough buffs, you can turn him into a decent fighter... just like anyone else? Such discovery!
Jokes aside, his turns are much better used to buff and use stuff like guarded hearth and the like.

He's a pretty great melee combatant, he's just not a front liner. I know that sounds contradictory, but him using a glaive works perfectly for him. Using his reach allows him to be in between the more durable folks and the squishy spellcasters, and gives him opportunity attacks if mobs try to reach said squishies. Because he's a cleric, that's a perfect position for channels and other aoe buffs to the party. He's a solid character to have in a good aligned party.

You said he wasn't good in melee, which was wrong. Now you're going after his reliance on buffs....when literally every archetype benefits from buffs in one way or another. On top of that, Cleric buffs + Domain abilities are especially good for melee (not all class' buffs are equal).

Many buffs and Domain abilities can be cast before battle, so he has time to do other stuff.
