while in the crpg they don't, because there are no 0 level spell slots implemented
owlcat just decided to add a selection of cantrip, and since there are not a lot they gave them all to the players.
Pnp rules says „spells per days“:
So i can only cast spells one time within 24 hours (my interpretion)
In game i rest for 8 hours and get my spells back.
Is this also just a game-decision from owlcat?
Example:
After 8 hours on day A
After 16 hours on dayA
After another 8 hours on day B
Even when you say ok 24:00 count for day B already you get it 2 times:
After 8 hours on day A
After 16 hours on day B
After another 8 hours on day B
I know it‘s detailed but i have currently a little bit of time☺️
Yeah you can only rest once a day, if you try to rest the second time, the game will skip a day (you'll see something like 1d 6h).
In 3.5 D&D cantrips do use spell slots.
When looking at an SRD, make sure you're using the right one.
As to the number of available cantrips, there are so few, Owlcat just went with all of them. Most aren't terribly useful.
His link is to the Pathfinder 1E SRD, which this game is based on. For prepared casters, cantrips do take spell slots in 1E tabletop, but the spell isn't consumed when cast. So a 1st-level wizard could prep Acid Splash, Detect Magic, and Prestidigitation in her three slots and cast them as many times as she likes that day, but she couldn't cast Ray of Frost on that same day because she hadn't prepared it.
