throwing axes and sneak attack (re: Wenduag)
I've seen some builds out there for Wenduag that go throwing axes with Rowdy levels.
Is there something I'm missing that would let Wenduag be able to sneak attack when throwing axes (ranged attack)? Can someone explain how this works?

Yes. Looks like you might only need one ally engaged in melee, but I never noticed that. I do know that you can deal ranged sneak attack damage if you have two allies engaged with the target in melee (presuming the target doesn't have improved uncanny dodge).

Also do you know what the weapon type is for throwing axes? In tabletop they are melee weapons that you can make ranged attacks with. And things like point-blank shot require ranged weapons.
They are ranged weapons in the game - axe group for weapon training purposes. Point-blank shot works.

In tabletop, not having point-blank shot work with a thrown axe seems like a pretty poor GM decision:

Did you assign at least one level of Rogue in her? That's how I did it, just to get the sneak attack feat.

My question is about triggering sneak attack. To get sneak attack it says the target needs to be denied their dex bonus (aka flatfooted) or when flanking. And flanking specifically says a melee attack. Are you using the throwing axes while next to the enemy or from a distance? Is sneak attack damage showing up in the combat log?

In this game, "flanking" is more like a non-existent flanked condition. As long as the target is being flanked, it can be sneak attacked by anyone.

Ranged attacks withing 30ft can sneak attack. The target must be in a state that allows sneak attack, such as being unaware of you, or being tied in melee with someone else.
So in short, if you're in 30ft and the terget is locked in melee with another of your guys, you should be getting sneak attacks.

If you have greater invisibility casted on you, you can trigger sneak attacks in stealth. Greater invis doesnt go away once you attack or cast a spell.

yes that's the denied dex bonus to ac part but you wouldn't get greater invis often enough to design a build around using it to get sneak attack.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It's been years since I played pathfinder and have no recollection how we normally played. Also I doubt it ever came up even cause I doubt I ever saw anyone do a thrown weapon build in actual table top. In tabletop you don't gotta worry about if there's enough magic bows to go around lol
