merged spellbook builds are more or less 'i win' builds for beginners
even if you trash your whole build, with a merged spellbook you can always go cl caster and clear the game easily
a caster based solely around its caster level, that will scale sky high thanks to merged spellbook
its weaker than a minmaxed dc caster, but strong enough to clear the game and that combined with its easy accessibility makes its extremely beginner friendly
It's really not all that different than Wizard or Sorcerer (for Stigmatized) at the end of the day. You get Hexes, which will be nice until Lich starts picking up, but at higher levels you'll be hard pressed to want to spend a round using one in most cases.
You don't want to pump your primary school in this game, because of "Expanded Arsenal" mythic feat. You spend all you feats on other schools (e.g. Illusion is always a decent choice, or Abjuration) and at Mythic Level 2 (which comes early in the game) you take Expanded Arsenal (Necromancy) and suddenly all non-Necro feats start to apply also to your necro spells. This way you can pump your primary school DC very-very high, as you can apply boni from multiple schools at once, thus permitting you to bypass high enemy stats on Hard/Unfair.
Witch of the Veil is another good choice if you prefer a more stealthy approach. The archetype's shrouded steps makes you invisible and later also acts as a means of teleportation. Pretty much the archetype for Illusion school as far as Witches go.
Hagbound can be nice if you wish for a more melee focused character. The archetype's boost to Strength also aids for non-ranged touch attacks. Which is a nice touch for the Decaying Touch Lich power. The Hagbound's limitless acces to Bestow Curse is another plus.
