At what point do you restart your campaign?
Hello reader!

I am an incorrigible experimenter, and I find myself often starting new campaigns to try and experience the story as a different build with different decisions. It's fun to roleplay the different personalities and interact with the world, even if it doesn't ultimately change much. I am certain I am not the only person who does this, but my question is: At what point do people usually get bored and want to restart?

For me it's Act 3. I lock in my mythic choice, and I feel like from that point I have won the game. Drezen is saved, I have ascended, and with the character at level 12 or so there aren't really more major unlocks to radically change the class. Your numbers get better, enemy numbers get stricter, it's just higher level spells from that point. Moreover, since you now have actual builds rolling and your party is powerful, you can tackle just about anything the game throws at you. This is the part where I usually restart my campaign.

In case anyone ends up curious about difficulty settings, I play on:

Hardest enemies
Additional enemies
Additional enemy behaviours
Party revives on death
Harmful effects removed on rest
No mercenaries (or at most just 1)

I can agree - chapter 3 has so many quests and stuff to do and after mythic level 4 there is hard to find motivation to go on. Part of this is the fact that your buff cycles grow longer and longer. In Drezen you get additional chore as well to manage all those events, build structures and bases.

One thing You could to is reduce party size or go solo to reduce overhead and still finish the game?

I have more than 1000 hrs and never finished the game:P

For me 'restart-itis' typically hits somewhere in Act 3. There's just too many things to try.
No point. Just finish it.

Assuming you aren't on Core+ pretty much any character and mythic combo can finish the game.

Oh, I absolutely recommend finishing it! The ending is well worthwhile, at least it was when I've completed it as Angel and Azata. I tried finishing the campaign as Demon, but it got to the "nah your alignment isn't Evil yet so we're not going to let you progress the main quest" part and I lost all interest.

Trying a playthrough with a reduced party size sounds like an intriguing challenge. I'd not considered that before! Pathfinder: Wrath of the Introvert.

I included my difficulty settings more in case anyone was interested to know it. It's a custom difficulty setting where the enemies all have the stats of Unfair, but I don't have to haul around a million resurrection scrolls and camp as often to recover negative levels.

It's not a matter of boredom for me, it's a matter of game breaking bugs which I still get to this day. For example: I just did the treasure of the midnight isles content in Act 3. The boss there is in an arena that causes "Acidic Evaporation" periodically which requires a saving throw or take massive damage.

I have beaten the boss, left the area, and continued my journey. Want to know what bug I ran into? The game still thinks Seelah is in that room, and she has to keep making a saving throw....forever. I literally cannot use her. I've saved and reloaded, I've removed her from the party and brought her back, I've rested, nothing. Nothing clears this bug. Seelah is literally doomed to constantly save or die.

for me my restarts are not a matter of being "bored"... I want to continue actually.... but 425 hours into game and ive only made it halfway to Act 3.... my OCD as a sorcerer compels me to restart.... since we have no ability to switch spells other than through retaining... I keep on restarting cause spells I pick or bloodlines I wanna change.... sure I could retrain.... but I dont wanna reset my alignment history and erase all my decisions.... I wanna play through the game and see how the alignment chart winds up at the end with everything I do...

plus cause of bugs and patches alters the way I build my character.... for instance picking up a metamagic feat with plans to pick mythic favored metamagic later on and finding out that metamagic couldnt be favored at the time (metamagic bolster).... so restart.....

Act 3. I think I made it to Act 4 once? Maybe not. I always used to play on Core but with Additional Enemy Behaviors, but I haven't been doing that and just playing Core.

Why do I restart? Same thing. Always some different build I'm itching to try. Grass is always greener. Same thing happened in Kingmaker until I played a Defender of the True World Druid. Beat it with that, because I love summoning, and Creeping Death is just hacks - and feels so good to throw back at the game. "Oh, you like swarms, do ya? I got swarms..."

Just too bad summons are totally outclassed in this game, or so I've heard. Haven't done much summoning.

I've gotten back into Pathfinder again since I quit about last year due to all the bugs and yeah i finally made it to A5 and wow the enemies sure have gotten tougher i know its the end game chapter but literally every fight its usually down to the last hit most of the time for me. Reminds me of the pre nerfed end game area on Pathfinder 1 lol.

Never got bored. At most, I had a few different characters with differently roleplayed personalities playing in parrallel.
My first playthrough wa a trickster with persuasion skill on core difficulty, so since the end of chapter 4 till the epilogue I mostly just walked around doing my business, watching enemies suicide around, with the rest of the team tanking and Ember (mostly solo) annihilating bosses.

right before grey garrison, it usually takes me a 4 or 5 rerolls before i stick to a character, which i will then complete the game with,

Chapter 5. If you made it to chapter 5 other than a few fights you should be pretty well able to do the rest of the game and the end slides were never my favorite so I didnt push to see them all. I also think youve seen the best parts of the game by then.

This. But 2 or 3 rerolls for me before I nail what I want to do with a character.

It's funny...but also kind of infuriating. I just want to play through ONCE without running into a game breaking bug.
