Dhampire Grenadier Alchemist
Elf Sage Sorceror/Arcane Trickster
Just a good balanced party that covers everything and have good endurance to last. Sensei is awesome, reaching 56 AC towards the end thanks to the equips.
I did not plan it very well, as I started with a Magus. I picked that class because I like it in theory, and I wanted to figure out how to make it work. On core it was doable, but a martial class would have been better. During the first set of Islands I picked up another character, a cleric. Made it through the first boss and then because I am a fool I did not disembark and rest/sell/recruit. So for the first couple of islands in the second set it was Magus + Cleric.
Around this time I started paying attention to the icons near the islands and went for one that gave me another character - a rogue this time. Finished the second set of islands and when we went back to port I actually went to sell/buy things. I think I had around 80,000 gold. Added a fighter and a sorcerer and got some reasonable gear for all concerned.
When I finished the 3rd set of islands those characters were around lvl. 8, I think? I added a kineticist and once I went out on the 4th set I thought, "why the hell didn't I START with a kineticist?"
I know they're not great at low levels, but at lvl 9 with earth and fire as her elements she starts most combats by doing around 80 damage from a composite blast that only misses if she rolls a 1. She doesn't have deadly earth yet, either.
Is there a headwind that nerfs kineticists?
Interesting, and curious who was your leader/were your first two chars? Thanks for sharing and i'll give it a try!
Heh. My second try I hit the rest/cant get off boat bug but thankfully my starting 3 of a Cleric and 2x Rangers with pets were able to get through 2nd round of islands.
Agreed on kineticists being a strong choice so far. I havent seen or heard of any undertows that would nerf them. Maybe strongwinds one a little (-4 range penalty,).
I am going to try for tank/cleric and two kineticsists next run, but i might need to wait for pillars to get nerfed a little or I hear of/learn a better way of dealing with them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Leader was Paladin. Second and third were the Marksman Hunter and Arcane Trickster for their skillsets earlier. Sensei was last cause I needed time to buy her equips. Alchemist is just good cause they ignore undertows and spell resist and can debuff the lategame enemies’ stats.
Good tips! Thank you. I’ll give it a try. How did you deal with pillars?
