5 foot step?
I thought that in the Pathfinder rules that a character could take a five foot step and still full attack. Is this correct? If so, my ranged characters are only "sometimes" able to perform this. The rest of the time if they take a 5 foot step, they cannot attack at all...let alone full attack.

I am using TB mode and one character is using Flurry of Blows (Zen Archer) and the other one is using two throwing axes.

Any insight would be appreciated!

I don't suppose you would have a tiny video of this happening?

No...I don't even know how to capture video lol. But it is happening frequently.

Reported this a year ago, it's a bug. Sometimes you make a 5ft step, and all of your actions for that round are gone, except free actions.
Good to know Owlcat didn't fix this after a years of time. Bodes well.

I've never had problems with this.

After taking a 5-ft step, you can no longer move; might seem like all of your actions are gone. However, you should be able to full attack, standard + move action (but not actual movement), or two move actions (such as drink two potions).

The most common cause for not being able to attack after taking a 5-ft step is because nothing is in range. Also common, something is in range, but you don't have "proper" line of sight.

Related, sometimes the character is actually moving rather than taking a 5-ft step - the indicator isn't always obvious. However, in those situations, you should still be able to take a single attack.

edit:
One more potential problem to point out. Before doing anything on that character's turn, are you just hovering over the enemy and doing the full attack? If that's the situation, pay attention to the 5-ft indicator. If it's lit up white, you should be fine. However, if it looks lit but in some sort of dark red, you are out of range. (If it's not lit at all, you are already in range.)

Thank you for this, forkofspite. I will look for the indicators that you referenced just to make sure, but I think that all checks out.

Check to make sure you don't have Point Blank Shot active. The feat, when active, is supposed to move you up to within 30' of your target to gain the +1 to hit and damage. I remember having problems when it was active if I took a 5' step and if I wasn't in 30' of my target it wouldn't let me fire. When Point Blank Shot is turned off you still get the bonus to hit and damage if you are within 30' of your target.

If you are playing turn based mode. Hold shift while moving, that will limit you to move only the 5ft step. However it also prevents you from moving after that 5ft step so you are then stuck in your new position and must attack, cast a spell etc.

Thanks guys...I'll do some more looking into it.

You can always switch to turn-based, make your 5ft step and attack, and then switch back.
