Attack on Drezen choices don't matter?
Previously I generally attack the front gate, but this time I decided to go with Regil. Now what this does is force Regil into my party (I get that) and then puts us inside the walls next to the barracks. But... what's the plan then? Everything is the same as when I attack the front gate. There's no different mission, in fact the whole "Regil marks the location of the giants on your map" thing never happened, because they are not marked on the map.

Thing is, Drezen is like a mess of a city. It's confusing, don't know where what is. If you plan an attack on the city, you'd have marked key points of interest where you'd need to do things. I don't need a game to hold my hand, but if you're going to plan an assault, then you would have intelligence on where to go.

Biggest gripe here is that there's 0 difference vs if I attacked through the gates. Really put a sour note on this for me. Meh.

You get to attack a bunch of the gates from behind instead of head on, that's the main difference. Of course, the defenders still spawn even when the gate is already open by the time you go through...

And you get to the annoying giants a bit quicker to shut them down, but it's not by much.

Been a while since I played Dreze so I got no clue where these giants are. I remember them being on towers so I guess they're further in. But honestly just doing the same thing, but with Regil in the party is just no fun. Might as well be a boss and attack the gate.

You have to go though the church and get into the city that way. Then you have to climb up onto the walls and attack the giants along the ramparts. The tricky part is finding the spot to get onto the walls.

Yea you'd think after planning the attack on the city there'd be information on where to go.

Make sure you have Radiance with you before you start, so you can get Joran Vhane to upgrade it.

Good point

The different choices only determine where in the city you begin (and if you choose to go with Regill, also force you to take him in your party). This is not very important, but it does have the potential to change things a little. I like going with Regill because you start close to the giants (on the wall of the middle city) and once you kill them, they stop throwing stuff on you (the random damage you sometimes get when walking around in Drezen is the giants throwing rocks at you). I find the random damage very annoying and like to get rid of it early, then go to all the parts of the city and clean them up.

But yeah, not really a big deal.

I think going along with Regill's plan also helps out a bit with his questline a lot later on.

there is info on where to go. You just need to look at the map, they are highlighted/visible there,

you can just walk up the rubble to get on top of the walls, no need to climb.

Where would you say this info is? I cannot see any markings on where the giants are or how to get to their location. Now of course I can hover the map over the towers and sure I see the giants when I close the map, but there's no markings or indicators. Even though Regill clearly stated to have marked things on the map.

Well regil and the hell knights do atleast create a breech that starts you off next to the gaints. While it may be confusing and information may be lacking in regards to where the giants are, the breech is atleast next to the objective. Whereas the frontal asault is no where near them.

I always suggest some Parkour, use the levers to open all the gates. A lot of bonus exp that way.

I ended up on the other side of the door, because I forgot where I was going. So you're saying it's better EXP wise to open the door with the lever instead of "commence the assault" option from the other side?

Yep. If you get all three keys, you can also open the main gate for bonus exp.

Did you actually check this? Because those assualting-the-gates fights have a lot of xp in them and you skip them completely if you use the levers. Did you actually check the levers give more xp than the fights combined or do you just mean they give "bonus" xp as in "out-of-fight" xp?
