Is there supposed to be a limit to have many spells/abilities a general can use?
My main general is level 16 and has a good number of spells & abilities more than fit on the regular hotbar in battle. The pull out (lol) arrow that would normally expand to show all/additional spells duplicates all of what is already there, plus two additional spells. That still leaves a number of things on the table that seem unusable for some reason. Frenzy Trap, Demonic Lullaby, Blade of the Inheritor.

They all seem to be things learned after the main bar completely filled up. I've tried everything to add them to my hotbar or otherwise use the abilities, but nothing seems to work.

Are you using the side hot bars as well?

That's all the generals have

Giving this one last bump in the hope someone has an answer.

Why can't any of my crusade generals use all of their abilities in a skirmish? They only seem able to use the first ~10 or so abilities/spells, whatever they learned first. Everything else doesn't fit on their hotbar and I found no way to swap/add.

There is no limit. You have a skill bar on the side and if you click it enough, it will show additional bars if you have more skills than what the first bar could fit.

The issue is that Crusade generals don't have extra toolbars like normal characters do. Nor do they have the "S" or "A" buttons to access the full list of ablities.

This is a bug / oversight on the part of Owlcat -- I suspect that they didn't think it was possible to get a single general that had more than 10 abilities. I suspect that this is going to be really, really low on the list of bugs to fix, but it is indeed a bug.

I was able to see a second bar with the missing spells for my general. Bar was on the left side of the screen.

There's a giant arrow on the middle of the vertical hotbar that you can click on, which expands to show ALL the abilities that General knows.

As I noted at the start, you need to use the General's side BARS - plural.

It expands, just as the side bars of characters expand.

Sorry I did not clarify earlier. I've already tried what you guys are talking about. This expanded side bar does not show any additional abilities beyond what is already on the main side bar, with the exception of a single additional spell. There are still 5+ spells/abilities missing.

As you can see, the pull-out expanded bar is basically identical with two extra spells. I promise that there are like 4-6 more spells/abilities this general has that aren't shown.

This was a bug. the hotbar didn't show more than a X spells. Example if your general knew 20 spells, it would show a choice of 15 (not exact values).
This was fixed in a recent patch. You can choose from all spells now. But it seems to reset the hotbar order every battle.
