The same fight can be extreemly hard or extreemly easy.
There is a reason a lot of people are looking up min max builds.
The game (and this is a pathfinder problem) has many trap builds that just ruins your character.
When you are kicking ass and tacking names a random demon that looks like the kind the slaughter several times already suddenly party wiping you because your build wasnt designed around min max tent to piss people off.
I didnt even notice it the first time i killed it but....
I was a lich who reanimated every single demon i killed.
I love being a lich.
Undead overstated demon army for the win.
Either, you already have a strategy and party comp that's likely work against it (ie you have a ray-caster or someone who can drop large piles of no-save damage on it and summons to screen for a couple rounds)
or
it murders your entire party in like 1.5 rounds.
And there's no way of knowing that's the strategy the game is going to ask you to have until after it dumpsters your entire party.
MC and Camelia were only ones to fight Darkness and Camelia had 1 Heal scroll that I used to finish him off after MC almost killed him. Daeran was only healing MC.
Rest of the party was "dealing" (getting wiped out more like) with the enemies that ambush you from behind.
Much less so. "B-b-b-but muh touch AC" is simply stupid because not everyone can actually utilize that. Rays, Kinetists, Magus Dimenion Strike and thats pretty much all - when one or two people actually do something in fight while rest just sit and skip turns its simply bad game design.
Also forgot bombs.
Magus, Cleric, Oracle, Wizard, Arcanist, Kinecist, Sorcerer, Alchemist, Eldritch Scroundel, Witch. 9 classes out of 24 in game, which is 38% of classes, so it is very common to have access to Rays, even more when you have Witch, Oracle, Cleric, Wizard and Eldritch Scroundel, 42% of possible comapanions. So that is a lot of things that can utilize Touch AC.
Finnean?? Surely the group has a martial that uses a weapon??? Plus, rumor has it that if you can't clear any boss on unfair as a swift action caster by this point, you're not playing properly. :)
There's nothing wrong with the general sentiment of not liking a game design that seems to put out a lot of difficulty spikes. However, all challenges in this game can be completed with a variety of styles.
and it isn't very satisfying when you have to load because you spend your hellfire rays and such with bad rolls which easily happens
If someone reading this, there is only one way to pass this ♥♥♥♥ encounter. First, dispel his ridiculous buffs via greater dispel magic. After that start spamming BALEFUL POLYMORPH and prey for him to roll a natural one. If he doesn't, then return your last load and retry these steps. He will fail his saving throw eventually.
