I havent really understood the hype for that one myself. I think as there is a god of greatswords, there should be quite a few of them. Gorrum is the god of greatswords if i remember right.
Numerian Greatsword Information
Bonus Effect:
This +3 greatsword is merged with Numerian technology. Once per day, the wielder can activate one of five enhancements for a number of rounds equal to half the wielder's level.
◆Fiber Muscles: The primary subject of fiber muscles gains a +4 enhancement bonus to Dexterity and Strength scores, and a +4 enhancement bonus to Mobility skill checks.
◆Augmented Heart: The primary subject of augmented heart gains a +6 enhancement bonus to constitution score and fortification 25.
◆Force Shield: This shield is supported by some generator in this dungeon. It grants the wearer a +4 shield bonus to AC. Magic missiles and similar abilities can bypass it.
◆Stainless Skin: The primary subject of stainless skin gains a +4 natural armor bonus to AC and a +4 bonus to AC against touch attacks.
◆Upgraded Neural System: The primary subject of the upgraded neural system gains a +4 enhancement bonus to Intelligence score. DC of saving throws against spells and abilities they use is increased by 2.
Presumably you could use Greater Magic Weapon to increase it to +5.
Well yes, but I'm not getting magic classes till I unlock legend and then I'll work my way towards a lvl 40 eldritch knight.
Genuinely I can't remember the last tabletop based game that had a large variety of weapons. In baldurs gate it was either worlds edge or nothing.
This. Don't worry about it, it's very easy to have a +5 weapon.
Also, if you like Greatswords, I suggest just using Fang of Malice. It's a sacred weapon of the Greatsword god, so...(next to no idea why it isn't at least +4)
Fine I'll stop skirting around the issue. I hate stopgap measures. There I said it. Stop throwing greater magic weapon at me because I'll never like that solution.
Some of the best weapons in the game aren't +5 weapons. They're often +2 or +3, but their various unique enchantments are super strong. You use greater magic weapon on them, from the moment you get them, the entire game. It's not a stopgap until you can get a better weapon, that *is* the better weapon.
It's an hour/level spell too so it's very easy to cast it 1 time and then clear an entire area. If you're lazy or paranoid (like me) you take enduring spells 1 and just have your cleric or wizard go through casting it on everyone who needs it the moment you enter an area (any area.)
It ain't a weapon it's a spell that takes up a slot. It's also a temporary answer to a problem thus a stopgap.
Sadly I actually never got to play kingmaker past the barbarian war because my campaign was so bugged that progressing was impossible.
Just saying. It's definitely true that some weapon categories have a "best in class" and some don't.
