When should I play the DLCs?
Hi,
I'm about to start the main campaign for the first time (so, please, no spoiler) and I was wondering when I should play the two DLCs to get the most out of them.
Like, I really regret playing Varnhold's Lot after the main Kingmaker campaign, because I missed the side quest that ended the story.
Is it like that? Should i play each DLC at a specific time, between two acts of the main campaign?

I suggest you wait.
This patch broke the game entirely, to the extent it is almost unplayable at some point.

DLC #1 (Inevitable Excess)
If you want to import your character from the main story into the DLC, you must finish the main story first. Completing the DLC introduces a new ability to the main story, so if you want that for your initial run, do the DLC first. Playing the DLC first will give significant spoiler information for the main story, and due to that, I strongly suggest you do the main story before DLC #1.

DLC #2 (Through the Ashes)
I don't think it matters, but don't know for certain (my blind last azlanti run through DLC #2 just ended in failure). For story continuity, it makes sense to do the DLC early (immediately or just after the prologue), however doing so would give a minor spoiler knowledge of a major event that occurs during the first act. If you want to avoid the main story spoiler, wait until you're at the "point of no return" for Act 1 - or just wait until Act 2.

edit:
Also, if you want to avoid the minor spoiler of the major Act 1 event, don't read the post immediately below this one.

DLC 2 is best done before the battle that occurs in the tavern

DLC 1 is near the end of the game

Thank you for your answer.
So, if I understand correctly, for DLC #1 I will wait till the end (maybe almost the end? Or the events depicted take place after the very end of the campaign, with the same character?) and miss on the extra-ability, while I will play DLC #2 just at the end of Act 1.

The events depicted occur practically at the last moments of the game. If you decide to interrupt the main story to complete the DLC, you still won't be able to import your character into the DLC and you wouldn't have much time to use the ability granted by the completing the DLC.

For DLC #2, the timing works best after the prologue. It really is a minor spoiler plus even with that knowledge, you don't really know exactly when the event occurs.

If you are a caster, you cannot advance with mythic path in chapter 4. Whenever you try to rank it up, game freezes. Other than that,

The projectors cutscenes in Areelu's lab don't work properly: they finish just as soon as they start, and there's no audio either

Other than that, companions keep disappearing from camp/town and you need the toybox to make them spawn again, otherwise certain quests (and/or romances) break.
Then there's the horrible graphical glitch on mounted combat.

This game, after last patch, is a horrible mess. I suggest anyone who hasn't started playing it yet to wait until it returns to a playable state.
