The Covenant of the Inheritor
I discovered a possible bug with this item. It is possible (with a ton of patience and time) to level yourself up to level 20 with it before you even leave the crusader camp for the first time in act 2. I don't know if that would bug out the rest of the game but maybe the devs need to look into this. I tested it and leveled my character to level 7 after I got the item before I left the camp. I will not go any further as I don't like doing things the easy way.

I see no one is interested in my first post so maybe someone can help with my next dilemma. Does the spector quest in Wintersun have anything to do with the rest of the game or is it just a stand alone quest that I can skip without it affecting the game later?

I doubt that nobody is interested, they just have no feedback because you're probably the first to notice this, and most are well beyond this point and will have to wait for a new playthrough to test that themselves.

Either way maybe someone can answer my other question?

You can skip the specter. It gives a subpar item for summoners and generally not worth the hassle or xp.

I read what you originally wrote, but I didnt think it was worth a response. If you want to spend hours exploiting the level system to get level 20 before you head out to the graveyard, just install a mod that will do the same thing in a minute. Both exploit the game beyond its normal means.

It seemed silly to me to respond in detail, but in hindsight it was pretty rude that no one did.

In regards to the spector, just look at the body and do nothing. Then as you exit the area once your done, just loot all. The spector can have some pretty nasty spells at lvl 10 ish.

I'm actually kinda interested...

I know that before corruption starts to bother you, in that brief tutorial section you can still get ambushed in camp, and theoretically grind unlimited exp in the very start of the game...

Tell me about this covenent that might let you do it even better?

The Covenant - Equip the item in your belt then talk to the queen and choose to give it to her. You get the XP and the item goes to your inventory. Rinse and repeat. Just make sure you keep putting the item into your belt slot before giving it to the queen each time.
If you give it to the queen when it is in your inventory then it will disappear permanently.

Thank you all for the advice about the spector. I think I will skip this one.

That is such a sneaky little trick, and so easy to miss when trying to code it up to handle all the options.

Yha, certainly toss that into the bug tracker, it aint priority, but they're going to have to go over quests to see if they made that mistake anywhere else, so much work for maybe one bug, heh.

If you want some free xp, just open toybox and cheat your characters' levels to whatever you want them to be.
There is no difference between doing that and abusing a clerly bugged dialogue, but toybox is faster.

Ya I don't have toybox and from the sound of it I will never get it cause I don't like cheating. That is why I decided to say something about this bug so the devs can read this and fix it.

But your OP doesn't actually explain the problem, so even if this were the proper way to report bugs to Owlcat, how would you expect them to address it?

When I first made this post I wasn't sure it was a good idea to say how the bug works as there are some people who would do this because they like taking the easy path and taking your character to level 20 early would make the game easier but after seeing some feedback I realised that the Devs can't fix it if they don't know how it works. I also didn't know there was a mod that was designed for cheating.

Yeah, that is why not many poeple responded to your post about a time consuming way to cheat. Those that wanted to cheat, already were. Alt-B creates a bug report, if you want the devs to see something, that is probably the best way. It will also help you proceed with the game, if it is something that will crash it. You will get a save file- save from bug- that you can load up.

If you use an in-game exploit to attain something, that's usually called "cheesing". For example, in some games, there are ways to "cheese" infinite gold, or XP. BTW, players are less likely to report these bugs, as they are, in fact, exploiting them.

There's a guy named Spiffing Brit on youtube, all his videos are about nothing but how to cheese poorly balanced and designed games, including (but not only) this one.
