I managed to beat them so far (hardly), but there is one now, who heals himself, whenever I have him down to half (what is difficult already). Is there any trick to it? And is it normal, that they neither give XP nor any loot?

You mean the final one, after the mimics? There's a hidden heal undead trap there, you have to lure it out of the room so it won't get healed.

You get an achievement for beating that one on core difficulty or above. The other ones are not supposed to be fought I guess, because they won't spawn if you do the puzzles before trying to click the altars.
