*Freedom of Movement wants to know your location*

But srsy. its a 4th level spell that makes you immune to Icy prison, so just take it and dont complain about easy to counter stuff.

Oh if you still think icy prison is op, just use it yourself on enemy casters *shrug*

Freedom of movement and protection from elements ice should stop everything but the sound effect. I would not accuse the spell of being balanced but this system is not attempting to be balanced. It can be supper annoying and I have loaded a few saves at the first battle of Drezen when I didn't have a counter handy.

Yes, it is great spell. Using it to the max. Especially AOE version, Icy prison mass.

Please do not fix it, it is great in combat.

There is nothing to "fix" anyway. Spell works as intended. There are counters and if OP isnt using those its not the spells "fault". Thats like saying: "Fix damage its stupid and op as hell, it keeps getting my characters killed".

I did not understand why he complains, this spell is awesome to use. Almost as good as Sirocco.

It is just annoying to have to deal with a 9 minute long negative status effect that hits every round. And yes is you are prepared you can counter it, but that is true of everything in the game.
If you get hit by one unexpectedly, it is just a race to see if you can rest before the char dies

The problem with this spell, and quite a few other affliction in the game, is that they are hard to dispel. The spell itself is fine imo, the only problem is that you can't get rid of it properly after battle.

Having to use 5+ spells slots on remove disease, just to cure a single disease, is just plain stupid. Same goes for this spell. Sure, freedom of movement + resist ice fixes everything, by why can't I just dispel the effect after battle?
The only 'real' solution is to just rest each and every time -- which is pretty stupid imo. Especially if the fight you just had was very trivial.

These mechanics are simply not fun.

just pick force reality on mythic 1, on mythic 2 you get an ability that easily removes stuff like that on your party members

You can dispell it with "Remove Paralysis" as it is a paralysis effect after all. That should get rid of the damage component as well.
Alas spells like FoM should be always on everyone as its 10 min/level (so its 24h with enduring spells, which you should have at that point on at least somebody) and they counter alot of stuff that the game throws at you e.g. stagger and such.

The problem with Icy Prison is that it's more punishing if you SUCCESSFULLY SAVE against it. If you fail your save, you can then attempt to break free every round until you are successful. Or you can use Remove Paralysis, or Dispel, etc. to get rid of it. But if you successfully save you gain a long duration (20 mins or so) debuff that you CANNOT remove with any method (Remove Paralysis, Dispel, etc. do NOT work) -- you just have to wait it out (e.g. rest, travel on overland map, or leave the game open while you go have lunch).

This is Paizo's design flaw, though, not Owlcat's.

So when you're not paralyzed (anymore), but are still taking damage, "Remove paralysis" removes the damage component of the spell?

That makes little sense to me, but I guess I'll give it a try. I hope it works.

If this actually works, it would be nice if this was explained somewhere in-game, because this honestly just doesn't make sense to me.

[edit]
according to the post above mine it doesn't work.

Guess I'll just go back to playing the game -- just a little bit more confused...

It only works if you FAIL the save of the spell, because your are paralyzed if that happens. There is know way (besides FoM) to get rid of the entangled effect. So FoM is the go to spell. Thats exactly why I cant understand that some people dont use it 24/7. I mean the game gives you the ability to have 24h buffs, so why not abuse them ?

I just spent 20 minutes idling in the depths of Enigma to wait out Mass Icy Prison entanglements + dots. My Ascended Element: Cold caused the frost dot to bypass all my elemental resists/protections so my main was utterly wrecked by that dot (apparently, the source of the elemental damage is the victim himself, therefore the victim's own ascended element applies).

Remove Paralysis does not work, Freedom of Movement does not work, Dispel does not work, ... it's a guaranteed 20 minutes of OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, OOOF, AAARGHH, AUUGGHH, AAAHHH, ...
