Crossbows shoot bolts. Throwing weapons are weapons YOU throw, not things like crossbows that shoot ammunition.

You cannot.

If only I could cast "bull's strength" on my crossbow to increase it's STR modifier. Maybe equip my Crossbows with "Belts of Giant Strength" to up it's damage further... Really maximize the Crossbow's ability to throw projectiles...

You shoot a crossbow after loading it with a bolt. Have you never seen anybody fire one in a video? They don't tend to be used in the modern age because guns, but I think James Bond kills somebody in one of the 007 movies with a crossbow.

BTW, I think sling staves are shooting weapons also, they hurl sling stones. Thrown weapons tend to be hurled with your hands. In this game, that's basically as c. said javelins, darts, and throwing axes. They tend to have a 20-30 ft range.

And the really cool thing is "unrealistically" you can keep throwing them over and over again, I guess they like Mjolnir keep returning to your hand. :steamhappy:

ingame description of fighters weapon training for thrown weapons counts sling staff as part of it

Throwing Weapons are :
Axe (thrown), Dart, Javelin, bombs (from belt or Alechemist class)

OK. Seems OG is following the rules on that. (sling staves)
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/weapons/weapon-descriptions/sling-staff-halfling/

They are described as throwing weapons. (BTW, though, I think you need Exotic proficiency for them unless you are a halfling.)

Sooooo .... if one wanted to get really technical and pedantic, crossbows fire bolts, and bows arrows, and the two things are not interchangeable. Again, technically, a BOW should not be able to fire a midnight BOLT, nor a CROSSBOW a quiver of ARROWS ... but for convenience sake, the two things are treated as interchangeable.

And only magical quivers have limited ammo (usually 20 shots and empty, or sometimes it's x shots per day) ... otherwise, "normal" ammo is infinite.

Ppl don't usually throw crossbows at their enemies. Maybe as a last ditch effort if they are out of bolts.

This is why we do not ask too much about this sort of magic. You summon things into your quiver, an archer just lost all arrows in the middle of a battle. This is a great trick at birthdays since every year at a certain day things just seem to vanish. A blacksmith calls out to the queen that he can not continue his business as every time he is about to deliver things seem to constantly vanishing. This is why he has such bad gear in his shop because he's on the brink of poverty.

but honestly how exactly are composite bows based on strength when it was the traditional longbow who needed lots of strength that archers were part of the elite swordsmen since they could only fire 5-10 arrows to be able to fight in combat.
Composite, not compound. Composite bows are made of multiple materials laminated together and can store more energy in the pull than a solid piece of wood. Hence, a composite bow of the same size can utilize more strength. And also why there are composite longbows in the game. In the real world, the technique was used to make shorter bows with the same power, because a shorter bow is more useful while mounted.
