you early game spell list is pretty bad compared to other full casters but whatever as soon you get bolt of justice mid act 3 you won the game
At start I thought that I would be shapeshifting spellcaster with really good AC and spells. Early game it worked like that. Druid monk+animal companion could do some tanking which story companions couldn't. Later Angel magic + metamagic rods were just too good so didn't use willdshape much. You can't use rods when wildshaped. Shapeshift spell was quite good when I got it. Dragon form with all buffs was nice when I didn't yet have those metamagic rods.
I think it is probably not optimal build especially not for the late game, but is is good enough so that you can do all optional bosses without too much problems. I played it on hard with story companions only and had no problems at all. Should work for unfair too as druid+animal companion is strong at start and Angel is super strong at the end.
Would you like to cast / support or to fight / support?
Cast: Drovier. With all the Drovier support and the Angel support, it will simply be over the top. And! You can still cast Bolts. It's a good choice.
Fight: Primal Druid. I feel like this one's overlooked HARD. Because he can support very nicely(up to +6STR / +6CON...and other benefits...level ONE spell!), can summon, has a Pet and can fight. The problem is ... so can Crusader. Especially Gorum Crusader, that one will win vs PD easily. That one's hella strong regardless.
And that's my beef with Druid. Sure, it has TONS of synergy, but if you don't want to summon? Yeah, you are a strictly worse Cleric. Ecc and Sader both defeat their counterparts(Drovier / Speaker and PD) easily. You can safely ignore Shapeshifting, it's just...not that good imo. And Summoning makes the Turn Based mode super obnoxious(but maybe it's just me). So, pick accordingly.
