but thematically it fits like all classes with access to divine spellcasting
2. master of all is pretty bad, if you want more skillpoints going for a class focused on intelligence would be better like alchemist
for trickster casters because of the additional sneak dice and their strongest spell being ray of halberds, arcane trickster with a charisma based caster class would be ideal
if you want to play a transmutation or illusion mage, arcanist would be a good option with brownfur transmuter or phantasmal mage
3. evil aeon to gold dragon is probably the only path with gold dragon being an actual upgrade in power
1. I am now pretty convinced that some Warpriest is a sleeper hit. Just waiting to be found out to break the game. And I'm pretty convinced it could actually be Disenchanter. 24h fast casting buffs, Banish, tons of saves, Mystic Interference, very good in melee...
What do you people think about Divine Hound, Empyreal Sorc etc for Angel? Sure, it don't get the book, but concerning themes?
2. Now, this is a psychological moment of mine. The lack of a theme or efficiency would bother me greatly. Could I take something like Veil Witch and lol it? Yes. But there's barely any overlap. Besides, why is Master of All bad?
3. This isn't about power levels, but about themes. Like, ehat FEELS the best. Imo, Lich Redemption would be the ultimate thing that Hal could pull off. Maybe Demon, but as I said, conquering your demon(s) feels, honestly? Like how you should play this module. Everything about it just makes sense. Even Hand + Demon(as long as you reject Areelu's offer...which if you want a Legend, really, but really should).
And all that is probably just your "filler" spells for weaker enemies. You still have all the op arcane spells boosted with Sword of Heaven for tougher enemies.
Later in the game, you can probably also cover your group's divine needs through Angel abilities and other abilities in the group, so you don't need a full divine caster (or they can basically be on offense 95% of the time). Either way, it can help you increase your offense for the group on the whole. Note that I'm not saying all this is necessarily better than straight-up Oracle Angel, but it can be very effective and it's definitely not your conventional Angel build.
I ran an Overwhelming Mage with Enchantment Specialism going Demon Path recently. Super thematic. Near irresistible DCs by the Mid game. By end game everyone falls on their knees when you walk into the room.
Aldori Defender/Swordlord Trickster with an irritating "can't touch this" vibe.
1. i only played a warpriest demon till the end of act 5 on core difficulty, stopped that playthrough before nenio dungeon
i found the class underwhelming compared to crusader, paladin or battle oracle, but maybe i just used them wrong
2. master of all trades in sneak dice for skill focus, thats not a good trade, you pretty much give up on combat performance for out of combat perfomance, but that out of combat performance can be easily gained by optimizing skills in your partymembers
also it gets like nearly all rogues outclassed by vivisectionist, which is sadly a flaw in the class balancing
3. for themes i'm not sure i think all paths beside angel can fit into an redemption arc, if you play them evil or chaotic enough
chaotic neutral azata can wish to be good like aivu
chaotic evil trickster can get a glimmer of sanity
lawful evil aeon seeks redemption for failing the law
demon would be: rage bad
lich would be: undead bad
Yes, I know about that. I've done my Demon run for now though.
2. But you trade 2 Sneak Dice tops. Probably 1 if taking Mythic Sneak(honestly that Mythic should be better and I'm not advocating it, but...). 2 sDice, come on. And you end up super profficirnt with nearly every important skill. And btw? it's the trickster I'd use for Ascension. Something silly like that ascending...lol. Reminds me of Caylean.
3. Huh, you're right. But I'd want your typical "neutral -> fall from grace -> redemption". I don't have any strong wishes to play Lich(to its omnicidal end), so I'll use it for my Dragon playthrough.
For angel I think paladin is a natural fit for a non merged class. War priest could be too. I just couldn't rp either with Iomeade because if you are really her lg follower you have to go legend or you are not being lawful to your deity. There should be a major consequence for not following her for any divine caster of her.
Thematically, it just seems to me it would follow on from already being a Gold Dragon Disciple, or maybe any kind of Dragon Disciple, or just even a Sorceror/Bloodrager with a Dragon Bloodline. (Or maybe both).
Interestingly, if you go this route, you will have a Gold Dragon form from your class/prestige, which is far inferior to the one granted by the Mythic Path. Also, the "first" GD breath weapon is fire, whereas the Mythic breath weapon is (better) holy damage.
... Now if they were to ask me ... if they were gonna flesh out GD more ... I would have it in some way ... dunno how ... "synergize" with already having a GD bloodline/prestige class ... or possibly any draconic.
My first playthru, I did an Angel Inquisitor, because ... it seemed to fit, Fextralife said no other companion had the class, and so I had to try both. BTW, to be precise, I had to no idea exactly how mythic paths worked yet, but it seemed to me if I was gonna butt kick for goodness, an inquisitor was a good choice, and Angel definitely is the very first path the game offers to you by default ... other than Demon.
Your primary offense is magic missiles boosted by your blade of heaven (that lasts 24 hours after mythic level 5!). The Angel cloak of Bound of Possibility (which is sadly still bugged at time of this writing) promises to add yet another 2d4 of Force damage to EACH of your missiles. Eventually all of the Angel damage bonuses to the missiles will even be maximized.
For deity, I chose Erastil for the Community (primary) and Law domains. Both the Law and Community powers remain useful despite the fact that you will only ever reach Cleric level 3. Also, Erastil has some very interesting druidic type domain spells that you will occasionally get to splash in your domain slots.
Ecclesithurge makes Mystic Thurge significantly more bearable at low level due to the excellent and versatile 'at will' divine buff when you have nothing else to do.
Dump everything into Wisdom and take the background that lets you add Wisdom rather than Charisma to your Persuasion checks.
The only real drawback with this is Spell Resistance. Put everything you possibly can spare into Spell Pen type feats. Personally I chose Half-Elf so I would be able to take a racial buff to Wisdom and still be able to take Elven Magic via feat available to Half-Elves.
It or break it thing. You could easily make a powerful arcane warrior or martial focused class that wrecks with the sword of heaven and never used bolt spam.
2: I feel trickster is great with Amy rouge or int class that has lots of skill point use. Student of war prestige would be interesting (I’m doing that for my gold dragon). Master of all just seems to be the favorite despite people hating on it for losing what accounts as only 2 sneak attack die.
3: demon to gold dragon. I’m not a fan of lich to X redemption plus lich to gold dragon means you go from a very magic based mythic to a very martial based mythic but it be interesting to see how ciar reacts and what happens to the ziggurat
And because of bad game design (broken quest) I missed Azata path.
What path will be suitable for my main in such conditions?
