For me only good/moral choice is to let him ascend into pharasmas court to let him keep the stories and legends intact just like he was doing his long life.
Think of it that way. Would you personally want to be empty shell with only one purpose which is to litterally run blind with hope that they will eventually find his own identity and story of who he is just to discard it again.
There is another thing.
Storyteller had always only 1 person he ever considered friend.
If you let him die as a mortal then assuming you finished the secrets of creations he will finally be able to reunite with the only person he probably ever cared for.
I may be misunderstanding it but the choices are:
1. Lose all knowledge. Grow old and die. Join Phasmara's court.
2. Keep all knowledge. Grow old and die. Teach the next generation.
Either way he dies and he says that either way he is happy.
The choice is between preserving possibly dangerous knowledge or destroying possibly useful knowledge.
The Storyteller says that his mind says "Yes" to Pharasma, but his heart - "No".
Imho serving beings called gods in this game, is no different than serving whoever else. It is still serving, executing orders, job time and etc. Let the man rest and enjoy his way.
Regardless of whether you tell him to keep the knowledge or destroy it, you get the ability: Storyteller's Knowledge, which increases the main character's caster level by 2, gives a +2 insight bonus on saving throws against arcane spells, and lets you roll twice and take the best result on all Knowledge and Lore skill checks. This is listed in the same area as the bonuses you get from reading special books.
