Does mythic weapon finesse also affect other strength based abilities?
Do abilities like overhand chop and backswing get changed to work for your dexterity bonus if you have mythic weapon finesse?

As it's not listed in the tooltip, I doubt it, but why not just check the log after such an attack... if it is affected, it should be listed in your +/- list there.

Turns out it doesn't matter for what I was considering anyway. I was looking at some levels in two handed fighter with an eye at grabbing the advanced weapon training feat to get fighters finesse. But it seems that two handed fighter can't tale the advanced weapon training feat at level 5 like other fighters can or possibly at all.

Does the weapon had finesse tag. If not then no

For strength abilities to work in fighter u need weapon training in that weapon and fighters finesse i believe?

Someone correct me if tested

Yes you do. And 2h fighter archetype doesn't get fighter training feats, so no finesse on 2h swords.

Except for one case. The elven curved sword, it's a finesse 2h sword, so you don't need fighter finesse, you just need weapon finesse. You can test your theory with that.

You lose a significant amount of damage going DEX-based even if you find a way to get DEX-to-damage. Since fighters receive heavy armor training anyway, going DEX-based amounts to leaving heavy armor proficiency on the table so you can dish out less DPS for your party, which isn't a good trade in most cases.

In what way do you lose any damage, let alone a "significant amount"? Other than the opportunity cost to whatever feats/classes etc you needed to unlock dex to damage in the first place. I guess there's Legendary Proportions which you don't benefit from the strength from.

As for Heavy Armor, you get a LOT more AC from dex/unarmored. There's really no constest there it's the difference between ending up with 100+ AC and 60 something.

you can also reach 90+ ac with heavy armor, but you need to focus alot more on defensive stuff and lose on potential damage/party support, only your touch ac will still be bad

When you're first learning the game, DEX-based can feel like the powergamers' choice because you're able to get offense and defense from the same stat. But there are four main reasons why DEX-based offense is less than it might initially seem.

1) There are more ways in-game to boost STR than DEX, which means your to-hit and damage bonus will be higher if you go STR-based. 2) You get 1.5x strength bonus when wielding a two-handed weapon, but don't receive 1.5x dex bonus if you have weapon finesse. 3) You have a better selection of high-damage weapons if you aren't restricted to finessable weapons. 4) Finesse requires you to burn feats that could have been used for other damage-boosting options if you'd gone strength-based instead.

It's fine not to care about the damage loss from going DEX-based, if you have other reasons for going that route. But yes it most certainly exists and is significant, even though it's possible to win the game going DEX-based.
