Is the story similar to Dragon Age: Origins?
I see some similarities between the two in fighting off an advancing threat--Blight/Demon. Is that where the similarities end or are they more alike than not? Thanks.

Yea, no. This story has close to nothing in common with DA if not for the fantasy setting war against corrupted beings. And some trope you would expect from this kind of story (player=hero).

I would say: absolutely no.

It would be as if you put Twilight on equal footing with Underworld because both have vampires and werewolves ~

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is in my opinion much much more simpler lore wise.
Without spoiling: crazy sciencetist opened up rift in the universe - you go deal with it.

It's not. The story is based on an adventure path published by Paizo in 2013/2014:
https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Wrath_of_the_Righteous

The mythic paths however are non-standard:

No. DAO is a cheap mix of Warhammer40K and Witcher, full of logical plot holes (like nobody carry about ongoing "zombie epidemic" and only few "chosens" are oppose it - lol it's so stupid, humans are terrified by idea of monster turning them into monsters that why we're universally scared by zombie movies) and with open endings to milk more money.
WotR is a finished story in power fantasy settings - coalition of human kingdoms finally win their war against demon invasion + plot behind it. True, nobles are still intrigue behind the scene but they're not ignoring threat of demons.

Having played both, no.

Systems are way different. DA:O was like three races, three classes, specialize down the road. Oh and parties of four. This is a smorgasboard of choice, since it uses the PF system. Character creation will take you a while.

But story is also way different. No grey wardens, no darkspawn, mages aren't something people fear and distrust, no Fade. Let me say I don't miss the Fade, particularly those sojourns into it where everything turns weird and distorted and strange voices in the background.

DA 2 really pissed me off when they brought in the MassEff spinny emoto-wheel and got rid of dialogue trees. This game still haz them. The only meaningful way to allow the player to choose ACTUAL dialogue instead of just emoto-reactions, IMHO.

If you looking for a good story with fun combat and plenty of replayability, then this game will be to your liking.

DA Origins was the only Dragon Age game I could get into and played it a lot. This game has way more replayability as there are a ton of classes and different mythic paths to take with their own story lines.

The interesting thing about Origins was each of the three races had two possible backgrounds, and so there were six "origin stories" of how those six choices could get into the action. But once you joined the Grey Wardens, it was one linear story on rails. Different endings were possible, but by and large most of the story was on rails. As was sorta said above. This game IS very different from that; not only will you get different endings, but things along the way will play out differently.

I can only add that the sequels - for me - anyway - moved away from the original in ways that were worse, and so for me DA3: Inquisition was the worst.

So far this game reminds me more at neverwinter nights2, becomming the knight captain and your own castle there is a lot like things happen at act2 here. Dragon age origins is still a absolute classic and maybe the best "modern" rpg i ever played but if you enjoyed this kind of game you will have fun with pathfinder too.

with alot of stretching and a bit of squeezing, they do share some story similiarities

main part of dao ~ prologue dungeon of wotr
last dungeon of dao ~ chapter 1 of wotr
dao awakening prologue ~ chapter 2 of wotr
dao awakening ~ chapter 3 of wotr

They are about as similar as TU-160 and F-16...
