Is halfling with 2H weapons good and/or viable?
There's just something incredibly appealing to me about the idea of a tiny person with a massive sword.

I know halflings get a penalty to strength, but is it really enough to affect things in the long run?

Go for it ! It's not optimized but it should not stop you : there are so many ways to boost strength, attack bonus, damage... you may not even feel it in the end. The only thing you will really lack is the reach, so make sure you have enough survivability to be on the front line. Go even further and cast reduce person, sure it will give you a minor penalty with strength but it should be hilarious ! The is also a oversized lance in the last act, that could be a sight to behold...

Cheers

(it brings back memories of a friend playing exactly this kind of character a long time ago...)

Their malus in STR is certainly a problem... but i could easily make a 2H mutation warrior fighter halfling work, especially with a double weapon which combine the two handed + dual wielding styles.

Not sure. I think attaching a few halflings to my 2 handed club would just soften the hits?

You could also sacrifice one feat and give him Elven Curved Blades. I find the thought funny.

IDEALLY I'd want a giant oversized mallet so I could go full cartoon character mode.

A +1 modifier isnt a big deal and it can be offset with a mythic feat called Destiny Beyond Birth, which removed the penalty.

Personally I'm partial to Halfling with Longspear. Looks like they are about to compete in the Olympics pole vaulting event.

Just be aware the STR penalty is only part of the story, all weapons are auto-resized for characters so your weapon will have a one-step smaller damage die. Which hurts the big two-handed weapons more than the one-handed ones and will hurt even more if you for whatever reason decided to go the Vital Strike route.

i made a discple of the pike/ 2h fighter halfling and he is pretty powerfull. Disciple of the pike get a bonus to ac when attacking bigger enemy then you.

You will love the freedom of a tiny party that can swarm through 5 ft. doorways on the first round.

Hey now, just cuz Frodo fought with a shortsword, doesn't mean you can't break the mold.

One of my favorite character in crpg is a Halfling fighter with a 2h sword

>all weapons are auto-resized

That's absolutely disgusting. I need a monster hunter greatsword.

From a gameplay mechanic they are but visually not so much.

I'm rocking a Halfing Order of the Paw cavalier and yeah, using a whatever 2H reach weapon I can get my hands on. One of the mythic path buffs is removing race stat penalties, so it doesn't matter at that point.

I suppose the other option, instead of it being smaller and doing less damage, the could've gone the route of Amiri and her giant sword in the first game. Any small character wielding a human-sized weapon takes a -2 penalty (minus, or malus for you Europeans) to-hit.
