Does Yaniel's death effect Areelu
So during Banner over the citadel, Yaniel gets killed by some Nabasu after holding off endless ghouls.

Anyway does Yaniel's death here effect Areelu appearing later? She has some great gear!

Well, if she "dies" during the ghoulfest, then you should miss out on her dialogue after that fight and her showing you a secret passage.

If you didn't miss out on that, then she didn't "die".
And besides, as seeker said, things definitely aren't always as they seem, especially when it comes to a certain Yaniel.
