Nbassua Encounter in the market place.

I went back to where i fought a cultist raising dead and the second time I got ambushed by a Level nine Nbassu demon and a bunch of ghouls. with my level 3 party. I managed to win it a couple of times by kiting, but mostly getting lucky on embers Slumber hex, followed by a coupe de graie on the sleeping demon.
My question is the demon always starts with hold person,mass which stunlocks the entire party regardless of whether they passed their saves of not. Is this supposed to happen? If this is not a bug how are you suppossed to counter an effect that disables your entire party, and why is an encounter that is impossible to beat without savescumming and getting lucky rolls even in the game.

It's actually quite an accomplishment to get there at just level three. Better idea to just leave it to last. In general if you're relying on lucky rolls or kiting you're missing something.

Best solution to Nabasu Mass Hold is to interrupt it with damage.

[Stink Bug]

Mass Hold Person has been bugged for several patches, in different ways. It used to affect any creature, not just humanoids, and now everyone not outright immune is initially held regardless of saves. Alt-B and report if you can.

Yeah, Mass Hold person is bugged, it affects everyone even if they save, though they can recover.

Can you post how you got to Nabassu with level 3?
Since you needed 1) do several objectives and 2) do tavern fight and 3) kill cult necromancer.

The other way to deal with Nabassu despite of the current Hold Person Mass bug is to summon Huge Elemental(s) from the scroll(s) available in Defender's Heart. They are immune to poison, stun, paralysis, flanking, crits + can easily deal with all the risen mess around. Fire is my favorite.

Can you post how you got to Nabassu with level 3?
Since you needed 1) do several objectives and 2) do tavern fight and 3) kill cult necromancer.

I went to marketplace, cleared first area, did the athletics check to make the bridge, took the second athletics check to go to where the actors are, fought about 5 fights including shadows and ghouls, then killed the gnome necromancer. went back to defenders heart to get healing for the disease and strength drain i had. returned to marketplace. noticed there was new treasure where i killed the necromancer and got jumped by the nbassu

Nabassu does not appear after Tavern defence but before it? You did Tavern defence after killing necromancer (but before killing Nabassu)?

I have done other playthroughs since and different situations have occured, for example on my current playthrough, I cant even get it to appear, probably cause i put off that corner of the map till the last before Gray Garrison.

Nabasu appears as soon as you summon him and he escapes.

This happens before the Tavern Defence.

No the tavern fight did not happen the first time i returned to the Defenders Heart, in that playthrough.

You are talking about the Vrock that gets released in the house near were you find Ember. The Nabassu is a different demon
