Early and midgame channel positive provided big helpful shields (mythic channeling helped a lot) and lategame the heal and mass heal spells made people utterly unkillable even on core difficulty as they ended up with 200+ temporary HP stacked up on top of their max health.
Also I don't think "tank" is really a role in this game, since there is nothing that inherently controls enemy aggro and forces them to attack your most durable melee fighter instead of your less durable ones. Survivability is equally important on all melee combatants.
Life Oracle's very good. But it doesn't have either the numbers of WD or quality of PoB. I'd put it slightly below these two.
This isn't an MMO. There are no such roles unless you impose them on the game and your play will suffer accordingly.
Play Wrath. It's fun.
I'll bite. Suffer why?
While I will bring a companion or two to learn their story, I actually prefer to roll with a custom crew.
