I do know you have to get out of combat before it will rise. Also note that often times it will have very few HP so it needs to be healed with negative energy.
I dont know if its a bug with the spells themselves (flay for purpose, doom for purpose) or the update messed up something.
It should work that you put the spell on an enemy, they die during the fight to whatever, then after the fight is over they should rise as your temporary ally and stay that way until you leave the map. I HAVE had it work that way (repurpose specifically) so I wonder if its got bugged by a recent update..
I had a weird glitch though, I killed someone with flay for purpose and once they resurrected, they had a weird damage-over-time effect on them which they simultaneously healed. It was as if the DoT from the repurpose spell lingered over their death..
