DLC issue

Anyone else trying to download the two free DLC's and the game just boots up instead?

I just went into steam and tried to download them and had the same thing happen, really weird.

It does, but you do get the free dlc. Not the first game that does that, for some strange reason.

It is actually normal behaviour with DLCs for a game on Steam. When you abort the launch of the game, the DLC gets instead linked to your account. All what is left to do then is to verify your game files to trigger the download properly, provided it the DLC is activated per default.

The old logic behind that was this: you click on the free download -> item's license get linked to your account -> launch game -> game checks for linked items licenses -> auto download via the game as update.

But nowadays most games let the update being done via Steam, which kinda breaks the old logic system, unless sometimes it works when the game's launcher does its job properly and downloads before launching the game.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is missing such a launcher, at least for the GOG.com version.

That's how some DLCs work. If you've ever played Total Warhammer it is the same thing.

There is a very brief popup that says "downoading item, updating ticket" before the game launches.

Then you can exit the game and verify that there are 5 DLCs (including the two new ones) listed in on the right side of the game page in your library.

Does anyone know how to start the new DLC quest? I don't see anything new on the overland map. Do we need to talk to someone specific to start it?

MHO: don't mind free DLC, free is free. They added some new portraits already I think in the 1.1 update, and it's cool they're adding more. Frankly, I always thought the portrait options were pretty flimsy at release. Maybe why there are so many custom portrait pack mods.

It's cool they added that new area to Act 5. Personally, I suspect, as with free DLC with content, it was something that was always supposed to be in Act 5, they just didn't have time to finish it before release.

P.S. glad they acknowledged the Arue romance was bugged in the patch ... thought so.
