act 5 point of no retrurn

just wondering if there is a quest in act 5 that will trigger a point of no return or some kind of timer so i can do the other stuff first

There's no timer, but once you're in Threshold fortress proper and Areelu's "pocket plane," there is no going back. You have the party you have and there is no more changing up or exiting, you're in Act 6 and on the road to finale (*). That's why you have that chance for all the tearful goodbyes. You will experience the messed up "Team B" fight as a quick switcheroo, but otherwise you're not seeing your "outside team" again.

(*) If you're going to ascend your party, that's who's going - everybody left outside needs to hitch their own ride.
