Necromancer focus without being a litch?
Curious if anyone has tried this with oracle or shaman and didn't go with a merged spell book mythic?

I realize it gimps you power wise vs litch

Necromancy is fine even without lich. You get the raise undead spells which are very good, the boneshaker line, finger of death and more. It has debuffs, damage and summoning. There's really nothing wrong with it. My main Azata wizard at the moment has necromancy spells prepared at almost every level he can cast. Necromancy isn't his primary school but having some necro in your spellbook ready has constantly proven useful.

Just use your mythic abilities to have your spell focus and other abilities apply also to your other schools and you'll be good to go.

Lich would make for a more powerful necromancer true. But you can be ridiculously good at necromancy even without it.

necromancer is one of the strongest disciplines in this game, and is highly recommendable, problem is is that most of the spells are evil, or have expensive material components i believe, so playing a saint is not recommended if you focus on this school of magic.

??? wait what?

necromancy is just a tool just like evocation and the rest of magic schools; its how you use it ( no one talks about heat spell towards metal armor users, or all the MANY illusion spells that can make you live your worst nightmare... we aren't even going to touch enchantment *shivers* that's just a world less traveled)

though if you are talking mechanically in that there are spells IN GAME and it messes with you alignment...good to know...and that kinda blows :T

...but ive been bone shaking with the best of them so haven't noticed anything yet...which spells do this if i may ask?

quick comparison. Evocation is mostly elemental damage spells, the majority of the game has you fighting powerful demons, demons like other outsiders always have some form of elemental resistance, and or spell resistance, also many of the spells have a reflex save to half the damage or negate it if the demon has evasion. Get around? Take Ascended Element, and spell penetration feats, spell focus feats to raise DC.

Necromancy, is mostly save or suck with some create or summon spells sprinkled in, or life saving buff spells. Top it off Necromancy is directly linked to a mythic path in the form of Lich, do you know what spells a Lich gets? Yes Necromancy but what's even more interesting is their spells ignore SR, and usually have no save. So not only is Necromancy more versatile than Evocation at times, but if you take the right path it out right becomes better. Not all schools of magic are created equal, why do you think Necromancy is frowned upon in game? It's usually evil, but also REALLY POWERFUL.

Sure you can do 300 dmg with some evocation builds, but on the flip side you can also kill some people outright with necromancy. There are less demons immune to ability damage/drain level drain, death, spells than ones vulnerable to elemental magic or have no SR.

Yeah you can do it, iirc Cleric is one of the better necromancer classes.
Im sure orocle and shaman work just as good.

My thoughts for a build like shaman are since the inflict wounds spells don't have spell resistance I wouldn't have to waste 2 feats and a mythic to do spell damage. Mass inflict wounds probably isn't the best damage dealer but with selective spell it could be spammed a few times at the start of combat. Or the touch versions can be used against high ac enemies at lower levels and having harm later. Then maybe later levels spell pen could be boosted for level 8 and 9 spells
