Sounds more like how it is supposed to be.
Is that the new requirement now, because last play through I got them to help without killing anyone. I'd like to do that again, getting the priests help without killing hulrun because I read he helps later.
In the latest patch I had the priests join me and I did not have to kill hulrun.

Thank you for you post, it's nice to know that it's not just me having this problem, hopefully it'll get fixed in the next patch. I still don't understand how it 'records' you option from the last play through and decides how to flip flop it. I don't suppose you have an idea to wipe the slate clean as it were so I can choose freely between the two and have my pick of which one I want? If not it's okay, thank you for at least pointing me in the right direction
No idea sorry. From what I could tell I didn't even have an option to pick. Only had the priest option for some reason. Not sure the flip/flop thing is even real but that person seemed to think so tested by loading earlier saves.
