Diplomacy is almost too easy to max out, and ignoring the parade thing only really means losing out on a repeatable decree for +10% finance points for 2 weeks...which is basically nothing if you're filling your forts properly(build Inns first, then recruitment buildings-possibly a bug, as they're meant to be mutually exclusive, but it still hasn't been fixed, even after all the crusade overhauls, so...use it for now, adapt later if it gets changed)
Though, do make sure to support the Royal Council when given the choice, there's an amazing skill booster item in it for you.
