Just cast Mage Armor on the horse then.

In the long run, just like with regular characters armor will end up leaving your animal companions with LESS AC than they would get from their dex+buffs+bracers without the armor.

That is not the case, especially with horse. Bracers duplicate Mage Armor in any case. As soon as you get the Light you’re better off with that and the Medium is superior to Mage Armor or Bracers. The Heavy in Labyrinth is outstanding.

The Armorless meme needs to die.

Nope it’s the big one. Not really hidden just have to press the statues.

Oh so its when we go back near the end of chapter 1? Just trying to get a point of reference here without to much spoilers.

You can find 2 light bardings in act 1, 1 of them can be found in Grey Garrison and is enchanted giving +10 speed. Other is also light barding and not enchanted.

I have 3 already and am not to far into the game. You won't find them until you leave the starting city however. Might have been 1 there in the Grey Garrison.not sure however.

Yes, the first barding you can find is during the assault at the end of chapter 1.

If you miss the barding(s) in Kenebras, you'll find one along the way to Drezen in Act 2, provided you choose to assist the waylaid Hellknights when one arrives at your camp.
In the main camp at Reliable Redoubt, you should find a set of medium barding called "Muscle Warmer", it's basically hide armor +3, with +10 cold resist.

Not amazing, but good enough to carry you until you buy some in Drezen, from the Travelling Skeleton merchant(sold under his protective gear option when asked what he's selling, iirc), or just find it in some deep, dank cave.

Even earlier than that, as soon as you have the chance to explore your base camp at the start of act 2, I remember there's a spot by the stables where you can grab a normal non-magical barding. It's not great, but if you haven't found anything else to that point, it's something.

Hmm anyone knows how to put barding on your animal? I have it in inventory but have no idea how to make mount wear it
Babbles Mar 14, 2023 @ 12:58pm
It goes in the armour slot, should be one of the few slots without a padlock icon on it.

Edit: Oh and you need the feats too, from choosing Bulwark or selecting Barding: Light (etc) at level up.

well for some reason it doesn't allow me to levelup my mount. Especially if I try to do a respec. Anyone had this problem?
Gold Dragon Mar 14, 2023 @ 6:55pm
Mounts level up if the owner levels up in a class that gave them the mount.and gain the level after the master's level up in that class.
