How do you survive the base attack?
I'm serious, every time I think "Okay that,s the last wave" the game tosses like 8 more enemies. Then I get to the minotaur, out of juice and half the party dead.

On how earth do you win this fight? The minotaur itself pretty much one-shots characters!

1) Strong party.
2) Scrolls of Cloudkill cast by Nenio if you want to cheese it :)

tbh that fight is scripted quite a bit just remember the fight wont progress unless you kill the guys that give exp, the guys that don't give exp will spawn infinitely. the guys that give exp are the alchemists, cultists with 2 handed weapons (not the usual naked cultists) and all demons, drenches scirs minautars

Cloudkill. You can buy the scrolls from the vendor. You'll need 2. One north east and one south west. Just remember to control the clouds. Don't play in turn based mode. It moves away from the front of the caster so if you turn your back on it it will move towards you. Just remember who cast what. Best is 2 charcters to cast 1 each so you can control both. Rotate the characters/casters accordingly. The spells instakills everything.

Buff your party while controlling the clouds.

Let the Minotaur attack the NPC's. Then you move in with everything you've got. He shoudln't target you.

Wait so if I just kill these guys the fight goes faster?

yes

Grease. You can have selective grease at this point of the game with Nenio (and I assume the MC to). Selective metamagic is very good for a caster, so it's not even a waste.
My strat :
MC-cam-seelah-nenio (unless MC is mage)-lann/wendu-whatever else
-put grease where they spawn first, stand there. I put grease roughly so the spell is "cut" in the middle by the doors. For now, put everyone there but cam or another tank. Make sure the melee hold the line so they don't yolo the spawn.
-put the another one/tank up the ladder where they spawn at the second wave. Have it hold the line. Cam with the iceplant ring and iceplant will have enough AC to not get hit, unless you go to the higher difficulties.
-once the initial wave is dealt with, feel free to send a DPS to assist your off tank up the stairs
-when the mini-cutscene trigger, go and put grease on the second door. Quick. Send the melee that was holding the 1rst door and a DPS to if possible
-when door break, you got 2 pyro guy to kill, then the mino.

Usually I fight the last bit on turn based, because dealing with 3 fronts that can't fit on screen is very difficult.

dont tank the minotaur, if u stay away from him he attacks the crusader guards in front of irabeth - then kill it. if he comes for one of your guys, just hide behind the crusaders.

Web and protect your archers.

The Neophytes are very low level so things like Sleep and Scare work for once.

By far the easiest way, not even close, is spike growth. You only need 2 to cover the entire area. You can’t get it from the scroll vendor but you can just hire a Druid merc for this fight. Pretty much everything except the Minotaur will die without you needing to move.

Selective grease, gg
Sotanaht Oct 31, 2021 @ 10:12am
Even without the Selective, just grease the doors and you should have an easy time with the rest. Remember that only the alchemists (and probably the minotaur) count for completion, other enemies respawn infinitely.

Entangling Vines from any of your casters that can use it aimed towards the main breached doors will make the fight considerably easier. Especially if you put Lann and your tank pally on it, Lanns arrow volley should be killing at least 2 of the base level grunts each turn with virtually no effort. Rest of my squad i put on the roofs to defend the archers, beat the defense on core difficulty with only 2 NPC defenders being killed

It's been 3 hours. Did you survive?

I assume you are talking a bout the defenders heart battle?

Firstly you want to be L5 for this fight. L4 is OK if you know what you are doing but L3 makes it much harder.

Firstly you can win this fight with Cloudkill but there are bettr things to spend you money on, you don't need that.

The secrets are:

1. Observe how the battle is scripted. You get three waves, front gate, over the rooftops and finally north gate (were the minatour comes from). You are after the Arsonists. You must kill the Arsonists. Most of them come to the front gate but there are couple that pop up on the roof top and a final couple that follow the minatour in.

2. The defence line in front of the pub is very strong. It will dispatch most all of the enemies that attack it, including the minatour itself with a fair wind, and you can use that but it won't deal with the arsonists.

3. The allied archers on the roofs are very useful in winning this battle but you have to take steps to save them, or rather give them space to save themselves as I will explain below.

4. So the plan is to deal with Arsonists yourself with the help of the allied archers and leave the defence line to handle as much else as possible.

4. The way to do that is a) make sure everybody has ranged weapons equipped when not directly threatened and b) make sure you stack Nenio and Woljif with Grease and Web.

5. You start by casting Web on the front gate then layer Grease on top of it, right were the Arsonists stand.

6. After you've dealt with four of five Arsonists from range there, the second wave will start (cut scene) and which point you cast web on the upper left rooftop and apply at least two doses of Grease on top of that. You want to cover the whole upper right part of the rooftop with Web and Grease except the part were an allied archer stands. I would leave the starway up to roof clear as you you may need to dash up there at some point. This will save the allied archers on the roof and enable them to mow down a lot of invaders themselves with your assistance. It also makes it easy to kill the Arsonists that come from the central ladder onto the roof. Easiest way to do that is simply focus them down from range but whizzing up the stairs to finish them off at sword point can be quicker.

7. You repeat this process when stage three triggers and the minatour appears. You should ideally have already Webbed and Greased this gate. If you have then the two Arsonists will be severely hampered but you must send a team to kill them otherwise they will get up[ occasionally and throw bombs (Web doesn't stop them throwing bombs). The minatour isn easy to kill if it's Greased but if it escapes you can kite it into the defence line in front of the pub and between your team and the troops there it won't last long. You do not want to engage in on your own 'cos it it crits it might kill you outright.

RNG being what it is the way it plays out exactly can vary from attempt to attempt (enemy saving throws etc) but this strategy is guaranteed to work once you get the hang of it and learn the scripted sequence, you just might have to tweak somewhat it according to circumstances.

I’ve found Grease to be counterproductive. It gives your ranged attackers a malus and will get your melee stuck or killed.

Web is ideal but Entangle isn’t bad. Can help to have Feather Step on your main melee. Again though this is the one fight in the game where Sleep and Scare can help you. Especially saving your archers from the initial rush.

Empowered Hypnotism as well if you can get it.
