What level should I do the Gwerm (?) mansion quest?
so I've just left the Defenders Heart and I'm exploring the city a bit trying to do quests. Some encounters with Ninio(?) where easy but trying to go through that rich guy's mansion is kicking my ass. My party is level 3 I think? I've killed everything I've come across but I'm still getting slaughtered by enemies, my attacks are missing a lot or spells are being resisted constantly.

I thought okay, maybe I'll just leave and go to Beth's house for supplies but the first few enemies there murdered my entire party in 3 rounds. I'm playing on normal I think, though I switched a few settings like party members not perma-dying. Is this just really really bad rolls or is this just my characters being underleveled? If so, how do I level them up more to not get killed. I've tried to not to rest at all because it'll take basically 2 days, but everyone is really hurt, I'm out of all my spells and still haven't finished any quests...

I recommend going to the market square and clearing it out first. There's enough encounters and quests there that

1. You'll knock out most of your quest log all at the same time, and
2. You should be level 4 by the time you completely clear it.

That extra level should help you clear everything else you need to do.

You should definitely do library first....
makes life a lot easier in the last battle of the chapter

I'd save it until after something major happens at Defender's inn. Some things are better to hit earlier. But that one doesn't matter. Same with checking out Irabeth's apartment.

Library and Market square I'd hit earlier. The mansion shouldn't be too bad at level 4-5.

+Market square resets after the defence and you'll miss out on some encounters/XP if you don't clear it before the defence. You should also do the tower and library early. I think those are the only three areas that change pre and post defence.

Also, if you haven't done so yet, make sure to check the Defender's Heart basement and recruit Woljif. You don't need to run his errands right away, but you need to meet him before that three-day deadline.

Once you've done the Library and most of Market Square, and met Woljif, you're under no real time pressure; rest all you like.

Note that there are 3 scrolls of Haste sold by the scroll merchant that help you get through the tougher encounters, I use them at level 4 for : The Tower of Estrod, Gwerms Mansion and the Party House.

This gets me to level 5 for the Defense, then it is just mopping up the rest of the areas and the few tougher (usually corner/building) fights in the Market.

Market Square and Party house first more levels that way and you pick up some additional companions that are absolutely amazing to have in Daeran and Ember: and you get to kill Halrun and unlock Azata

Not sure what the party house is, I don't remember getting any quests for there unless it's a random you found while traveling the city.

Much better actually to NOT kill Halrun and solve their argue with Ramien in a peaceful way.
